How much would it cost to get started in reloading 9MM bullets? What is the cost of a 9mm reloaded round compared to Winchester white box for instance?
 
with Blaser aluminum and such in abundance I just don't see myself grubbing around in the dirt to pick up the empties.
Hornet guy has a lot of good experience as well.
I have a Kahr that works very well and was a backup for an officer friend of mine.
 
Reloading plated bullets, instead of jacketed, you could reload a box of 50 for about $6.50 -6.75.

Jacketed bullets would jump the cost up another dollar or so. These prices take for granted that you have a "free" supply of brass.

If you shop, you can find 9mm ammo on sale for around $10 a box.. usually it's more like $12.

I buy most of my 9mm ammo, but I also reload for it, when I'm bored and have the time. Trying to scavenge up all your brass from a day at the range is an exercise in frustration. I usually end up with about 40 out of 50 from a box. I think the others vanish into thin air...:confused:
 
I'm still partial to revolvers, so much easier to collect the brass, and there are 9mm revolvers out there

That is true... if you don't mind using some type of moon clips.. If you get a full moon clip, it becomes a sort of speedloader, which can be pretty handy.

And with the cost difference between 9mm and 38sp ammo, the 9mm starts looking pretty attractive.

The only advantage to the 38 would be the capability of using bullets over 150gr, which seems to be about the practical limit to the smaller 9mm casing.

A six shot SP101, or Taurus 85-ish would just about be the berries, I think, for a "revolver person"....
 
to me that.s like asking if i am a screw driver enthusiast. if i need to drive a screw ,,,yeah. a gun is a tool just as a screwdriver is.
 
Well, I made the commitment. I bought a Taurus PT111 for $225 from my lo-cal gun dealer. I am planning on taking it to the range today and running some bullets through it.

Range Report: I am very satisfied with the PT111. The trigger is a bit stiff compared to my Ruger Mark III Hunter 22, but it is not too bad.

I only ran 20 rounds through it because the magazines are so hard to load by hand. I can see my next purchase is going to be one of those magazine loader thingies.

It was kind of hot at the range today so I wasn't motivated to spend much more than an hour out there.

Thanks for the report, it did warm up, i'm not sure what a loader would work for that magazine, I know there is a show next week in C.R., certainly someone will have something.

Oh Yea. I forgot about that. I was going to order something online and "hope" that it would work. But I can take a magazine to the show and make sure.

well, it happened, I came upon a nice , Winchester Model 63 in need of a good home, so much so that it followed me home.
I hope Earnest found his mag loader, they had a few there from Uplula.
 
Well I went to the gun show on Saturday. I got a belly band holster and a pocket holster. I did not see any mag loaders or snap caps which I was also looking for so I ordered them from Amazon. I saw Gabe's layout and it was pretty big.
