"If you don't pack something that doesn't start with a 4, you're either a woman or shouldn't be carrying at all."
Those guys...
Ok, not normally feminist but this got my dander up! lol

No need to get your dander up. It's just a saying, and a dumb one at that. Just chalk it up to insecure men trying to feign that they are secure by accusing other men of being lesser men. For some reason, accusing a man of acting like a woman is something to get a man's goat.
Loads and loads of sayings out there are like that.
Well its silly to try and carry the dirty Harry .44 mag for concealment."If you don't pack something that doesn't start with a 4, you're either a woman or shouldn't be carrying at all."

"... something that starts with a 4.."
Does that mean .40 or .44? Shouldn't things that start with a 3 be enough? Especially if they are hollow point?

And its equally silly to bring a small .32 pistol to a grizzly fight...
The 9mm is a good middle of the road round but still I wouldn't bring it to a grizzly fight unless it was all I had....
There are so many calibers out there I don't think I would be tied down to just one, or just those above 40....

I have nothing against things that start with 4, but my wallet really loves things that start with 2.... 100 rounds for $8.99. Of course I won't be using them for hunting (if/when I ever buy a gun...)
Good point! I hear they are often out of stock in many places because ammo's so expensive now.Someone told me that .22 rifle rounds retain their value REALLY well. Best round to stock up on even if you don't have something to shoot them with.
.223 too, I guess. I mean there are so many more AR-15 owners now than there was just a few short years ago. I'd buy low and sell high later if I had the disposable income to do that kinda thing.

What is the best 9mm handgun on the market today? I'm looking for semi-compact to conceal and carry.
No shortages of .223 ammo around here at all. .22 rimfire is making a pretty strong comeback, as well. It's usually available for around .08 per round...
The .357 magnum has been proven to be just about the best "stopping" cartridge ever, when loaded with 125gr HP bullets... this data was collected from actual police/LE shootings back in the 80's or so. It beat out the .45 ACP, the .44 Mag.... ALL of them.
The big drawback is the horrific muzzle blast and flash that goes along with it. Shoot one in low-light conditions, and you are temporarily blinded for a few minutes.... shoot one out of a 4" barrel without hearing protection, and you'll need to go home and take some Tylenol and rest for a few hours.. then go get fitted for your new hearing aid...ask me how I know....
This is a pic of Massad Ayoob firing one in low-light....
