That has been tried. Didn't work. Got anything else?
Obviously I haven’t been spending time with the BDF in crowd. On the other hand the News Forum shares a lot of similarities with the BDF, but apparently not enough for me to get the point lol.

Hey Everyone,

This is serious business.

The following CC members are OBVIOUSLY BAD INFLUENCES and EXTREME CAUTION should be taken when interacting with ANY of them at ALL times:

1. @Mem mentioned a set of adorable, microwavable plush animals in another thread. Because of her, I am now thinking about saving up and buying one for myself for Christmas -- and I'm torn between The Fox, The Sheep, and, most troubling of all, The Chicken. I DON'T EVEN LIKE CHICKENS!!! Obviously, Mem is a bad influence!

2. @Snackersmom is always writing compassionate, insightful responses to people here. She puts her whole heart into her writing, and her gentle answers often stop me in my tracks when I think of something more harsh I want to say. Snackers is one of the brave few who actually keeps me in line, just by her grace-filled examples. Obviously, Snackers is a bad influence!

3. Over the years, we've had a lot of posters who write opinions that are very pro-one gender, while putting down the other. @Subhumanoidal makes some of the most reasonable, balanced answers to these posts that I have ever read. He does this well in response to a lot of others we've seen with black-and-white thinking as well, and his posts often have me contemplating how to better balance my own answers, too. Obviously, Sub is a bad influence!

4. I have often observed @Cameron143 answering posts with more patience and grace in a single reply to some posts than I have probably shown in all my time on this forum. He has me thinking a lot about how to work harder at understanding the other person's point of view, and how to answer with encouragement rather than criticism. i've also heard he has impeccable strategy when it comes to Pillow Fights! Obviously, Cameron is a bad influence!

5. @Susanna has gone through a lot of trying times in her life, but she is unabashedly and geninely herself as she strives to serve both God and her fellow humankind. She often has me thinking about how to be more authentic and less afraid of what people might think. Obviously, Susanna is a bad influence!

6. @TabinRivCA and @Tall_Timbers are always here welcoming and greeting newcomers, making sure they know they can have a place here. I often wonder if I should follow their example and do less thread writing and more greeting. (I'm praying God will help me balance that out.) But it's been their own examples that have gotten me thinking about this. Obviously, they are both a bad influence!

7. Those of use who have met @RodB651 can't stop crowing about his Ninja Burger Skills. My stomach loves his cooking, but every pair of pants I own hopes I'll never see him again! More than that, Rod encourages us in our small group chat no matter what questions or controversial things we might say. He'll always tell us, "You're looking for answers, and that's ok!" What's that??!! Encouraging independent thinking WITHOUT immediate criticism or harsh put-downs??!!! Most obviously, Rod is a VERY bad influence!!!

This of course, is just the tip of the iceberg.

* Who do YOU think are BAD INFLUENCES here on CC -- and WHY?

As you've probably noticed, the purpose/twist of this thread is to show a bit of "sarcastic support." :D The answers should be edifying and encouraging, not evil! This might get interesting if we get a few people who only read the title and not this first post. :)

And if you can't think of anyone else to claim is a BAD INFLUENCE here, feel free to take pot shots at me! :D Shoot, I'd almost feel offended by now if people didn't see ME as a bad influence.

Before I sign off, of course I have to mention @Lynx and @cinder as "The Original" bad influences here. Not only do they make me think, but they often say exactly what I wanted to say -- all in one paragraph, as opposed to my 20 pages.

They also help me "round out" my ideas for many of these threads. I often say, "Hey guys, I need a word that means ___________ and starts with the letter __." Yesterday Cinder told me, "There is such a thing as an online thesaurus, you know," :p, but personally...

I'd much rather those two ping-pong all their ideas back and forth!

* And, how could I not mention the Original Bad Influence himself, @Oncefallen. While sightings of our fearless leader might be scarce and precious, sometimes when he graces the Singles forum with a post -- it's often with some kind of joke aimed at Lynx -- and it's far better and beyond anything I could have ever come up with. :D

Hmm. I'm thinking, this is the ONE EXCEPTION on this list -- obviously, @Oncefallen is a very, VERY GOOD INFLUENCE -- when it comes to keeping The Cat in line. :D

How about you? Who do you think is a bad influence on the forum -- and why? :)
Aww, thank you Miss Seoul, that was very kind of you! I can definitely get my snark on if I'm not careful though.... I've just come to realize it's not what most people need to hear from me :giggle:. And I've identified a few bad influences myself, y'all watch out for these people!

@Kireina @Butterflyyy @Poinsetta .......why yall gotta be so sweet and encouraging? It makes the rest of us look bad lol.;)

@Subhumanoidal @Sculpt ...... yall gotta quit making me re-assess my mindsets and thought processes, seriously. Makes it hard to stay in a rut when y'all keep pointing the way out of it. Sheeeesh! ;):p

@Oncefallen ......... QUIT MAKING THE REST OF US FEEL INADEQUATE WITH YOUR HILARIOUS ON-POINT POSTS, ITS NOT NICE.

@Magenta @Mem @Ballaurena ....... y'all mixin' it up in the BDF with the know-it-all buttheads? Very bad influence. Next thing ya know the rest of us womens might start believing that God can use us too.......and not just to plan the potlucks after church . Sit down, shut up, and believe as you're told already, sheeeeesh! ;)

@Cameron143 @posthuman @maxwel @tourist ...... no more posting hilarious stuff in contentious BDF threads. Seriously. We go in there for 3 reasons: Raising blood pressure, Biblical hair-splitting, and questioning each other's Salvation......... NOT SNORT-LAUGHING. It seriously kills the mood. Seriously.

@seoulsearch .....Lynx already mentioned this, but stop influencing me to write WAAAAAYYYYY long posts. It doesn't work for me and I end up saying too much . Also quit being so darn relatable, we're all supposed to have masks on, remember? Gotta make the heathens think Christians lead perfectly perfect lives so they'll want to join our ranks, then have absolutely NO idea what to do when trials come their way! It's TRADITION!!!!

There are many more bad influencers at work on this site, but that is enough to watch out for at this time. :censored:

And... I most definitely have to give @Snackersmom the dubious honor 🥇🏆 of being The Ultimate Bad Influence.

I can always count on her to swoop in and out-post my posts, out-humor my jokes (making them sound even MORE lame!,) and out-think any insight I try to throw in as an attempt to make even the most ridiculous threads sound valid!

And the thing is... She's so good at it. I'm actually hoping she'll start teaching classes so I can learn how to up my game. :D

What's that? Iron sharpening... (I'm not exactly iron, maybe more like a lead paperweight -- dense and unmovable :D)???!!!

Learning from others instead of trying to out-shout each other???

We can't have any of that, especially not in Singles!!!:D:cool::geek:

@Snackersmom, I can honestly say, I think you are The Baddest Influence in Singles, maybe the entire forum.

And that's a quality someone like me sees as oh so good. (Please don't stop -- keep showing the rest of us how it's done.)

Thank you Miss Seoul, I appreciate your sentiments but heartily disagree with them! Good grief, we wouldn't really even HAVE a singles forum if it wasn't for you... coming up with threads, trying to engage people in conversation, making everyone feel included...... I don't know how you do it! o_O I can start MAYBE one thread a month if I'm feeling plucky. I spend most of my time here reading and observing. Online it's ok but IRL it's awkward as heck!. I've even had a few people compare me to Wednesday Adams lol :LOL:. Sometimes I wonder if God has allowed you to go through so much because He knew you would use your experiences to help others with their trials. If so then I think you are spending your talents wisely!

Really, I look around the forums and see so many abilities I lack. Like how @Susanna and @RodB651 can say more in one sentence than I can in a paragraph. Or how @Karlon and @stingray72 have both been through so much, yet are so full of faith. Or @Lynx 's rare duality of hilarity and depth. I see @Ballaurena and @Magenta holding their own in BDF without letting the know-it-alls intimidate them into silence, something I really struggle with. And sometimes I wonder, if only we could get @notmyown @ThereRoseaLamb and @Cameron143 to tell us their life stories around a campfire, maybe we'd learn more about God in one night than we would in a whole year's worth of sermons. @HealthAndHappiness reminds me that we should never let our compassion give evil an excuse to flourish, something that I am honestly a bit naive about. Sometimes I wish I could drop the brooding observations and be sweet and encouraging like @Kireina @Poinsetta @TabinRivCA and @Butterflyyy (Bet nobody ever compares THEM to Wednesday Adams! :cautious:). Or I wish I could quit worrying so much about what people think and just cut to the chase like @cinder and @Subhumanoidal . And could I get @MsMediator to help me chart out my life please? BC I got no idea as far as a 5-year-plan goes lol :LOL:o_O. @fizzyjoe and @Godsgirl1983 remind us that it's good to have some fun in life! And I can't forget lovely Miss @Fortunate , who has been through so much in her short time, yet still she smiles!

I know I haven't mentioned everybody, but it's late and I need some sleep. My point in all this is please don't try to be like me. One is more than enough . Lead isn't iron but it does a much better job shielding from radiation! ;)

A good thread idea (at least, with the kind of threads I write,) really is only as good as the people who choose to answer/support the idea. Sure, some threads might just be for a few people to read and hopefully feel uplifted for doing so, but it's impossible to try to do everything and I always appreciate that you and other pick up a lot of my slack.

I only have so much energy and focus at a time, so I always feel bad when there are inevitably a lot of points and people that slip through the cracks. This post of yours is an excellent example. You were able to make the most of your time and energy to do what I couldn't have done over 4 posts, and I always appreciate you making whatever thread you enter stronger and better.

Years and years ago (I was a young spring chicken then,) a mentor I highly respected told me I ought to start a Single's Group at church. Participating here is my answer to the seed she planted such a long time ago. Having seen and experienced many of the complications (and utter hair-pulling nonsense) of some real-life and online chat Single's Groups, trying to continuously run discussions here on the forum is the best I can do.

And I'm very thankful for the opportunity.

But the only reason it works is because of the people who answer!

I know I haven't mentioned everybody, but it's late and I need some sleep. My point in all this is please don't try to be like me. One is more than enough . Lead isn't iron but it does a much better job shielding from radiation! ;)

I like to see it more as a complementary partnership.

Like, I'm the Camila to your Gonzo, the minion to your Gru, the Robin to your Batman, and the Grouch to your Oscar. :D

Left to my own devices, I'm too neurotic to be a breakout character, but if I put my mind to it, I make an excellent minion and sidekick, and that's how I like to think of you and me.

"What is thy bidding, Master? I live but to serve thee!"

I wish that were so... 😆

Thanks!!!
See now, you're just proving my point.... that ^^^ is how I shoulda replied to Seoulsearch's post!:LOL:

And thank you Miss Seoul, I see where you're coming from now..... maybe we can be the Singles Forum's Thelma and Louise ;):p
