people just have no idea about how we have gotten the bible. james white has good videos on this and has written a whole book called the king james only controversy. i recommend it to all KJVonlyists.
its just hard to get people to stop thinking like 21st century men when they are 21st century men. for most of church history people did not have bibles at all, many could not read and if those who could read were to get a piece of a copy of st.matthew's gospel they would cherish it instead of looking at it and saying its from the devil cause its the evil alexandrian egypt boogieman text family.
you dont want to know. some people in the kjvonly movement claim you cannot be saved without hearing kjv bible verse preached to you. steven anderson has said this for example. i remember james white talking with him about this.

You implication was, since the language of the KJV is outdated, it should be updated to modern English to make it more understandable.

I think you may be misunderstanding my point. God will indeed use any means necessary to convey His truths- even a donkey or a burning bush.
I had a coworker whose parents gave him an NIV Bible many years ago. After reading from his Bible and praying, he said he experienced God’s forgiveness and saving Grace. When he shared that news with a KJO preacher, he was told that he could not be saved because the NIV Bible was corrupt, and my friend was still lost and headed to hell.
Im not a KJO but those who rail against it I will never understand. The Wyclift bible was used as one of the sources. One guy was concerned that Calvinsts were used to translate it. Did Calvin use different sources than the other reformers? Thats if the Church Of England was Calvinistic which is a debate for another time. Oh and there has been corrections to the KJV since 1611. Without the Wescott and Hort abominations.
“Haters of the KJV”? I see you’ve been drinking the Kool-aid. If you can’t understand the vast difference between a translation and the ridiculous arguments made about that translation, and instead conflate refutation of the latter with hatred for the former, you have nothing to contribute here but division.
I have rarely come across anyone “railing” against the KJV specifically. I certainly have seen many cases of railing against newer translations.
If you pay attention and set aside your bias, you will see that most of the arguments “against the KJV” are just counter-arguments to KJV-onlyist assertions.
I implied nothing of the sort. I would not support the idea since the KJV was translated from very limited and incomplete sources under biased direction from King James himself.
The gnostics were very busy during the 1st century and even while Paul was still living. Just because the latest "discoveries" are "claimed" to be the oldest text doesnt mean that it is or that its accurate. Codex Vaticanis was corrupted centuries ago and yet some say its most accurate. Jesuits have been busy since the reformation and critical thinkers seem to be smarter than the scribes of the Hebrew writings themselves and the Greeks as well.
Most of the verses I’ve memorized are in Old English. I love it as a whole. However, if one wishes to do serious study, there are many words that need deciphered into more understandable terms.
