Well, no pets to speak of currently. I wish I did. I do stay pretty busy, so not always home. It would have to be something that did mind not having company, if I got one. They seemed fairly run of the mill red hens lol. Rescued from a premature death ... (only for mr fox to enjoy some of them the following year!!! Eek)
Well they enjoyed that year of freedom I am sure
I never took them camping for fear it may tempt other campers to prepare for a bbq! Even fire service hens can only do so much you know!
Have you any pets of livestock ... or have you ever had any? (Don’t worry if they can’t put fires out, I won’t gloat)
Yeah squirrels are nuts. We have one who literally knocks on the window around lunch time for his treat.. cute little thing it is. we called it Sydney but we don’t have a clue if it’s a bit or a girlIt seems to like it’s name because it doesn’t stop eating when we say it lol
Yeah, about tents.... I could buy a really good one, but I have one already. I don’t even know where it came From ... But I don’t like to waste stuff.
I had 4 at one time in My parents attic and I could not fathom where two of them came from lol. They must be beeeding up there!
The smell of fires... yeah that’s hard to beat: I hope this year the lockdowns end soon enough for a few camping trips at least... I guess we will have to wait and see
Stay blessed and at peace.

I like the Syndey story! I wish i had that going on here. Would gladly feed a squirrel on the run, just passing through for breakfast.
Lol, I know what you mean about tents. I am up to four currently. The last one I got makes number four. In fairness, these are different ones I got for different reasons through the years. The one I got last year is (prayerfully) waterproof. We shall see.
I pray you and the rest of the "We" are doing well and kept close in God's loving arms and are at Peace there as well as serving God to the best you all can.
Amen.![]()
@Kireina
I grew up eating rice.
As I got older it was more like steamed rice and sushi rice.
Didn't want to keep going forever in the Random Thread ,lol
Thanks very much
I haven't figured out the time difference with us yet. It is 5am here. If you are still up, what time is it in your chickenless, plastic-spanner-selling land?
I hope that you see many a squirrel on your next camping expedition, and that you have a sufficient supply of snacks to appease their appetite so that the follow you home and become your personal Rescue Squirrels, in place of the hens you are also so sadly lacking, as am I.
The Lord bless and keep you safe. May you never be without a spanner on all of your future falls. Encouragement has set the standard now lol, we must take heed.
Thank you. I did have an odd camping experience once. There is a bird over here called a "Blue Jay". For the longest time I did not know it but people used a different unofficial name for them "Camp robbers" because they take food. So I had cooked a pancake for breakfast and turned my back for a mir moment. I should add add in at this point that there was plenty of Blue Jay's in the trees near my camp site. When I turned back around, there was a crumb of the pancake on the table, and next to it a small piece of the pancake missing. I know , first hand, know why they call them "camp robbers" lol. Thanks very much

Ya, I don't eat tons of the sushi rice , just once in a while I make myself some.Aww good to knowI don't really love the Japanese rice...
but sushi rolls? the best!
Ohhh...I see squirrels here everyday and they walloped my ripe papayas always![]()
That's why they say don't feed the bears. If you feed the bears and the squirrels get wind of they, they naturally think they are invited to the party and will drop in uninvited.squirrels???? We counted them in the yard once (front and back) about 15-20 running around all at one time.
Well, when ya live in the woods you're kinda in their territory, soooooooo I can't complain toooooooooo much. That's why they say don't feed the bears. If you feed the bears and the squirrels get wind of they, they naturally think they are invited to the party and will drop in uninvited.
Well...if your in Their territory, just look at it as "rent" for them allowing you to stay there.Well, when ya live in the woods you're kinda in their territory, soooooooo I can't complain toooooooooo much.
BUT when they start trying to steal the food we put out for the other animals THEN I have a problem with them.
hey, at least I'm not trying to poision them like some folks around the area are.Well...if your in Their territory, just look at it as "rent" for them allowing you to stay there.![]()
hey, at least I'm not trying to poision them like some folks around the area are.
Don't have dogs to chase them away like other neighbors do...........
don't chemically treat the yard.........
so it's no wonder they hang out here.....
nope..... notta chance.Aaaah, ok, kinda weird situation sooo bare with me.
So, I was approached by a squirrel the other day. He was chattering away, in a very urgent way. Well, of course, I had no idea what he was going on about. So, then I had an idea. I pulled out my phone and videoed him, as it sounded like he was repeating himself over and over again and, might I add, seemed to be loosing his patients (like I have mentioned before, squirrels are nuts). After I recorded him, he seemed to feel like his job was done and ran off, up a power pole, across the wire and into a tree and vanished!
Perplexed, i wonder about the whole encounter. Then it hit me, i know this local guy, we call "The Squirrel Whisler". He is a little nuts to, but seems to work for him, as he would surely know what the little fuzzy tailed guy was trying to tell me
I arrived at his door, explained what had transpired and he agreed to help me out. I played the video for him. He looked at it, stroking his beard (which eriely enough seemed to resemble a squirrels tail, most strange) and nodding as it seemed to make sense to him. It appears, it was a through the grape vine message for you and your family (I know right, there was no one closer to you squirrel wise that could have given the message to you, perhaps they heard of our Squirrel Whisper...but I digress...). The messages is as follows:
"We are glad to continue having you on our property. We are however raising your rent from free, to 5 pounds of peanuts a month. This will phase in over the next 6 months, so as not to put undo burden on your family. Two pounds will begin starting in April with 1 pound, two month later, 2 more pounds will be expected and the following 2 pounds two months later. Also, yep there's more, we will require you to build us a a squirrel version amusement center in the backyard. It does not have to be fancy, just fun and functional.
Signed, The Flying Five
(The Fuzzybritches Family)"
I'm glad I was chosen to help get this message to you all, I feel my life has been enriched through this for the experience.
Hey, that's between y'all and The Fuzzybritches Family, I was just the messager.nope..... notta chance.
You know, I have lots of nice cook books from the south and they have A LOT of recipes for squirrel........
just sayin'
