I'm trying to find my old car thread on the forums but nothing came up.
So I thought I would try here and possibly man-trap a few.

Let's talk about CARS!!!!!

Honda vs Toyota?
Electric or Gas?
Hybrid?

Worst car ever....
SUVs or Silly Useless Vehicles

Utes or minivans?

Who drives a Ford Ranger?

Are Asian drivers truly the worst? I say that as an 'Asian'

honda's are very perennially dependable as are many foreign car makers. electric cars can be a convenient practical source of transportation. as of now, they still need much work. there's a large # of american cars that can compete as worst.

In a Southern accent - Ah cain't afford a four door Ford.

Speaking in tongues - Shoulda bought a Honda but I bought a Kia

The Simpsons - Who holds back the electric car? Who makes Steve Gutenberg...a star? We do, we do.. (Stonecutter's Song)

Model T comes in any colour as long as it's black...

aw thanks tourist, I missed you too.
Are you driving these days, or being driven around? It's nice being a passenger but you have to really trust that your driver knows where she/he is going!!

Any favourite car? We Nzers drive on the left, complete opposite to the USA lol

I would take Toyota over Honda. Honda vehicles tend to be reliable, but I've been denied warranty coverage on a couple of different Hondas I had. They were fit and finish issues. I won't ever buy a Honda again. I would buy a Toyota.

I wouldn't buy an EV but love hybrids, especially the ones that you don't plug-in. I have a hybrid truck and enjoy some pretty good fuel mileage overall. Any future vehicle that I might buy will be a hybrid. I've been buying Fords for decades but am thinking of buying Toyota next time I get a new vehicle.

I prefer trucks and SUVs. I've got a real bad back so I need a seat that's a little higher. That's safer for me to get in and out of the vehicle without throwing my back out.

Both Honda and Toyota have been sliding down the quality scale a bit.
I don't know which I would buy right now.

Gas, no electric.

I'm not sold on the idea of hybrids.

I'll be looking for a full size van in the next year or so. I want to build out a camper van.

I used to have a 1991 Ford Ranger. I still regret selling that truck!

Try Suzuki they are pretty good. Or Mazda.

My first car was a Ford Aerostar minivan. Well technically it was my mother's. But it's what I drove until college.

I remember I used to get challenges all the time to race at stoplights. I always used to wonder why guys in pickup trucks would want to race a lage boxy minivan. The two major problems were:

-If you lose (and you will, those Aerostars could go 0 to traffic court in 4 seconds), then that's kinda pathetic because you just got beat by a teenage girl driving a minivan.

And if you win (you won't) you still can't brag because where's the glory out-accelerating an oversized mom-mobile?

I wonder if they had heard about the Aerostar's crazy acceleration and wanted to test it first hand? 🤔 I've only driven F-150s since college but rarely got invited to race after giving up the minivan.

To this day, I find the experience very confusing lol. But I never turned down a challenge. Never lost one either 😂

I drove an aerostar once. It was kind of a work vehicle, and I knew it had a reputation for having good acceleration so I tried flooring it a couple times and it was impressive for a minivan.

Me, I'm not real big on what kind of car I drive. As long as it gets me from A to B, I'm happy. I don't absolutely have to have anything other than that - radio, cooling, whatever, it's all optional. I do have a mild preference for not getting drips on my head when it rains, but that's negotiable. Just make sure it runs and keeps running dependably.

Stupid question maybe but why does this car have no roof?! You couldn't drive it in the rain. Or maybe it never rains in...Spain.

I've kind of always wanted to drive a bookmobile / library bus, sort of my dream job, but...need the correct license for that as it's not a car and this is a car thread. So silly me tries to over- reach.

Also I've been in a lot of ubers and 9 times out of 10 it's a Toyota prius. I've been in ones where they drive too slow on the motorway and too fast around schools, but for the most part uber drivers are professional except when you get in one and the uber driver is single and then asks if you are single and then proceeds to hit on you.

Unless you both want that of course. But it rarely works because they do that to every gal. I've only been in ONE uber where the driver was actually female.

actually I lie I've been in TWO as a passenger with female driver. Actually out of...I don't know, at least 20-30 when I didn't have my own car.

My memory can be a bit faulty. So man-trapping probably rarely happens it's more of a female trap. Did anyone see the movie 'Grease'? Of course the females don't drive in that movie. WHY?

I've never been in a Honda uber. Always a Toyota. Maybe because of fuel economy? They run for ages.

now Teslas, what do people think of them. I kind of dislike the design of the door handles. I just feel they are wrong and would snap off. The tech is advanced, but sometimes the practicality belies the price tag.

One pedal driving is scary if not used to it. But then..can say that of a lot of manual/stick shift cars if living in an urban and hilly environment. Automatics are much easier to drive, if a bit boring. But sometimes you have other things to think about than driving a car, rather than thinking of gear changes. At least that's how my brain worked when I was learning to drive a manual..it didn't come easily to me but I got by. Then it's muscle memory and listening to car and what it wants to do. Automatic anyone can drive.

Being the sober driver for drunkards anyone? I've had that experience. The worst is when they leave their empty beer cans in the back seat. Not doing that again.
Driven anyone to church? I recall being in a car with a Christian couple on way to some prayer thing or other and they didn't have proper seatbelts or insurance and trusted God to take care of it. But they did have the fish symbol on their car.

There was this movie called 'Jesus Revolution' any ones seen it? In once scene they pray over the car that won't start and Lo and behold it starts up, instead of using jumper leads. LOL

I drive a 1999 Mercedes convertible that I inherited from my dad. He passed a few months after purchasing it, and I left it hanging in my garage for 26 years before I started using it. It’s a smooth ride.😎

The "c" in 500c means "convertible." It has a soft top (roof). This style is called a cabriolet. In the picture, the top is down. Also, it's Italian, not Spanish. It has a 5-speed manual transmission and a 1.4 liter internal combustion engine.

Cool, I learn something new everyday. I figured Fiat was Italian but I was kind of joking about it being Spanish.
Cabriolet sounds fancy.
I can imagine wearing Italian designer sunnies in this car...and driving in those narrow village lanes along with vespas and it would be like...La Dolce Vita (The good life). I imagine this car would be expensive...if you imported it overseas. You couldn't get parts shipped over it would take forever.

I've never seen a Fiat in my country..they are very rare. There is however, a Ferrari dealership in the city, but I think most of us are too poor to afford them, or top model designer cars like a Porsche, and French ones like Peugeot. sp?

The most common car in my town/city is Toyota Aqua (gets stolen a lot, insurance is high) and Mazda Demio. Also Suzuki Swift. Japanese cars all the way. No cars are actually manufactured in New Zealand anymore. Some new cars come from Korea, like the Kia, and China have started making them, like BYD (build your dream) its interesting to see the modern cars vs vintage American/British cars , like say Rolls Royce, Packards, Dodges, Cadillacs etc. I think Ford is the only one still going, and Jeep. German cars like BMW and Mercedes are what rich people buy here, and Audis.

It took me about a year or two to find my own car...after I crashed my old one. Sob! Goodbye Toyota Funcargo. Hello Suzuki Solio. Yea I am cheap. I just need a car I can drive and that goes, pretty much. Oh and it has to fit my stuff in it.

The cinquecento was one of the least expensive cars (approx. $13K USD new). They stopped making them a few years ago. Parts are not hard to find because they are part of Stellantis, the same company that now owns Dodge & Chrysler.

This is nothing like that. It's a remake of the original 500, which was a tiny car owned by the lower-middle class. Basically the equivalent to the German VW "Beetle."

I'm pretty sure the movie "Death Race 3000" was filmed in New Zealand. When I was there I spent a fair amount of time dodging vehicles. In the USA pedestrians have the right-of-way. Not so in NZ. Part of it was I kept looking the wrong way for traffic since you drive on the wrong side of the road ;)

Actually that Fiat is small like a Mini Cooper, but only 2 door. Though anything imported to NZ from Europe is going to be expensive, even if its cheap to buy elsewhere. It costs to ship stuff. Japan is relatively close, plus they don't need their older stock/fleet so NZ takes them.

Oh there is this NZ movie called 'Goodbye Pork Pie' it's pretty funny. There was also one called 'The fastest Indian'? I think it was, and one of our racers - we call them 'boy racers' is famous even though he died young in a crash called Bruce Maclaren. There is a school and road named after him in my town.
