There is a suggestion that being open minded will let the Devil in. Its a fascinating topic. As i age I definitely get set in my ways. Decide that a certain journalist on TV is an immature feminist. But recently I have to stop and ask myself " is that really fair?" Being objective. I dont think any of us truly are. But maybe some are at least more balanced than others.

There is an Aussie rugby coach who came under criticism for being too stubborn in his tactics. Focussing only on attack never defence. Australia got knocked out in the quaterfinals. A disappointing result. The lesson being we need to be more flexible. I can definitely learn from his error.

sticking to a certain view. now if our very foundations are challenged, our assumptions..., we can go into meltdown.
what if Jesus Christ isnt the Son of God.....dare i even suggest that on a Christian forum, can I handle that? should I reproach myself for even contemplating such a thought....but i think we need not be afraid. God allowed us free will. He doesnt mind doubt. I think He is more accessible when we stop thinking in fact. Maybe the artist is more likely to discover the mystery of God
But yeah...we need to confront those assumptions of ours. Take a hard honest look. Dont supress thoughts.

Being open minded is not dangerous in and of itself. It Can be dangerous if not mixed with discernment and wisdom.
There's a lot of unfounded superstitions labeled spiritual out there.
You can be set in your views, meaning not easily swayed, yet still be open to another view. It doesn't mean you have to change how you feel, but only that you'll give it fair consideration when a valid argument is presented. If it can't overcome your current view, don't change it. But if this new view refutes your current view solidly it would be ignorant to hold to a proven flawed view.

I suppose it depends on the subject. The older we get in Christ the more dogmatic we should be about the Authority of the Scripture. Can we give grace to an immature finamist? Yes, pray for her and watch a different news channel!!!

Something you apparently know more about than I do since I have no idea what you're talking about.
By "Christian foolishness" do you mean taking one line and being judgmental and talking down to a group of people?
You may want to get a ladder and come off that high horse before you fall off.

Intellectual debates/arguments interest me less every day. One person may appear to have leverage only because they :
-know how to intimidate with obscure vocab.
-turn the debate into a high moral ground contest
-weaponise a more detailed knowledge of scripture even though they dont have a deeper understanding of the bigger context

Do you not rightly devide by the Word of God?
Why are you using facebook scriptures?
Why when some one was clearly talking to you alone you lie and say they spoke to everyone?

2Tim 4.2-5 is where you can find the real scripture though.

You're welcome

When you get older most people that are younger than you seem less mature, thats just the way it is.

If you are balanced that means you have solid foundation in Christ. He anchors you. Many people dont have this anchor for their soul and can be adrift or doubleminded. We are to be singleminded in christ. To some that can seem narrowminded.

Because of the culture of youth in much of society you get situations where being irresponsible and youthful is prized over responsibilty and maturity that comes with wisdom and experience. So thats when you get baby boomers still acting like toddlers, many people with addiction problems actually have to learn, once they get off the drugs, how to be an adult from the beginning because if you hooked on drugs it stunts your growth. Your brain cells havent been growing because theyve been killed off. But once you are clean, you can still continue to grow and learn.

Most people nowadays cant be caegorised evenly because thers so many toxic substances and influences people are being exposed to, which hamper a lot of growth. And like plants, if certain plants dont get enough light, they just stop growing, or are weak.
