Haha, I appreciate it :giggle:

This made my day, thank you!

God bless you as well ❤
Hey, in my haste, I made a couple of erroneous statements in my initial response to you in your Bible and Science thread. I did correct them in my next post. Anyhow, I just want to make sure that you see my corrections. Sorry.

Oh, okay! I actually haven't looked at it yet, so I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for letting me know!

thanks! i will keep all that in mind. I didn't use to struggle with this as much but stress has caused me to rely on poor methods of coping. its pretty disappointing, actually.
Try not to be too hard on yourself. Your willingness to acknowledge your struggle says a lot for your character.

Your courage can be encouragement to others. Bringing about an atmosphere of honesty and commitment, among friends, and solidarity with God.

The ball's in your court.

It's not easy, but keep up hope. sometimes that little thing is all we need. one of my friends, about 2 months ago, shared that she has been a month without porn, and it is possible, it is hard, it feels impossible, but it is possible.

I am doing a month, and have allowed myself to do this,(christianchat, because often I would get on for this, and get distracted.) because God is helping me to be stronger. it is a thing of momentum, after a week, its a desire, after a month, now, it is a faint pull, and it takes concious desire for the dopamine to fall.
and it might even be better if you did not get as deep as I did. I was in it every night for about 3 years. I hear that sometimes I wake in the night saying, no,no,no. it is so ingrained, that I need the porn. the longer I spent away the better it got. and now....
I feel so much better. I am still careful, because, to quote @Subhumanoidal, porn addicts can fall back to porn even years after breaking free. it will always be an issue, I think, but If I start now, I believe I can break the habit.

DON'T toy with it.

By that I mean most guys wanting to stop don't wake up and reach for porn.

They see something provocative, on tv or their phone, and then make deals with themselves like, "well I'll just look at those girls in their bikinis, that's not porn right? After all, I didn't go looking for it" Then, "Hey I didn't know she was going to take her top off". Then you dwell on that, and before you know it, you're in full porn mode.

Your flesh is sneaky. You CAN'T bargain with it, toy with it, play around. You also have evil spiritual entities that are only too happy to help you watch more and bargain with your flesh, because they know the end result.

You're going to live in your fallen, dead flesh the rest of your natural life. So it's NEVER a one and done. You can't say, "Ah, I've defeated it". Your new born again self, for now, lives in that dead flesh, with it's evil desires. But your flesh, the Devil, and the world will not stop assailing you.

So you need to submit yourself to God DAILY, and the Devil will flee from you. You need to put on the FULL Armor of God DAILY to block his fiery darts. If you take off that Armor and hang it up in your closet what good is it for you. You need to WEAR it.

You need to take every thought captive AT THE START of the temptation. You wait, and it'll be too late.

Praying the Lord's Presence in your life.

It's important to focus on motivations like this when we struggle with addictions; if the reason WHY we want to stop isn't greater than the temptation to fall back in again, we will get nowhere.
Sadly addiction is not as simple finding the higher motivation.

Having worked for a year in the field of addictions with the Salvation Army while studying to be a social worker, it is far more complicated.

Addiction is connected to poor impulse control, self-medicating and over time other neurological changes.

Making it purely a "moral choice" just leads to feelings of failure and personal weakness.

Having stated this, certainly God can set people free from their addictions and He does, but of course one has to be born from above for this to happen, also helpful to have a strong understanding of the interplay between the spiritual and the psychological (corporeal).

Use a blocker or a dns provider that blocks that stuff, they arent perfect but its free compared to something like covenant eyes, you could also get an accountability partner outside of services like covenant eyes like through texts and have someone thats able to monitor your search history, ive struggled with this too, one of my worse problems is i will get tempted to look at or do something thats not corn but allows me to engage in my fantasies like ai chat bots and it ends up leading me down the rabbit hole of falling into temptation, so i learned just to block them and remind myself what will happen every time i get tempted, its also important to keep on your heart certain bible verses, 1 Corinthians 10:13, Matthew 26:41, and Psalms 141:4. I would also recommend if you the youversion app to get the free version of joe kirby's 100 pure thoughts devotional and read that every day till you finish it can be helpful. You can also use a image filter that will blur any photo that it detects as being inappropriate like nudeny, as for a dns, there are plenty you can find with a simple google search but one is sounds of sunday https://www.soundsofsunday.com/ and for a corn blocker, there are plenty browser extension ones like Blocker X, but i use a custom hosts file https://github.com/StevenBlack/hosts. I would also like to invite to examine yourself, see if your life is about God or about pleasure, and if your doing this out of a feeling of obligation instead of being out of genuine grief and a love for God. I'm not accusing you of being unsaved, i've struggled with this same thing, but we all need to 2 tim 2:15 "15 Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth." and to also 2 Corinth 13:5 "Examine your own selves, whether you are in the faith. Test your own selves. Or don’t you know about your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified."

I need to lock in it's been hard to avoid the same temptations
I pray for you brother, we are facing temptations at a rate no generations before have. While nothing is new under the sun, "
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it," (1 Corinthians 10:13), that said our exposure to temptations is exasperating! Technology has invited into our homes, our corners, and lives temptation available 24hrs, while the apostles and earlier generations of Christians could walk away from a city or place of temptation, we have devices in our pockets that have instant access. This should be considered in our battle, that the enemy like those who break people in torture with constant torments, can now do so through our screens to weakening resolve. I wish I could say there was an easy answer like abstain from tech, that is not feasible in this world. All I can do is offer sympathy, support, and supplications on your behalf to The Lord to help you in your trials.
