at least the credit card companies are up front about, hey, we are going to really encourage you to spend way more money than you have, then charge you 500x more than you overspent.

appreciate the honesty...

but i cannot stress enough, pay it off 100% every month. then they lose money and you gain.

you'll get 15 letters to fill out 5 forms and buy your own stamps to send them to 10 wrong addresses, to offices where no one will read them because only 2 people work there now, then start getting daily texts from your senator asking to send money to help stop democrats from making the system actually work

all so they can blame them for the system being broken!

I have a bank account but I've never ask for a loan and never used credit cards, Just the pay type cards where I can transfer money or withdraw cash. Next time they ask those two government employees what they did last week they can just draw Squiggly lines so it sounds like fun to me.

What is your opinion on stores giving discounts to those who download and use their apps and gas stations that make you pay first or use a debt or credit card at the pump.
I pay cash for everything, don't have a credit card and never use a debit card and do not like the idea of giving all the personal information to get these apps and it angers me when I have to pay more because I pay cash and refuse to give them information that is none of their business.
As for gas, I always fill up so I do not know how much the bill will be until I am through.
I drive an extra 12 miles to the only station in my area that still allows you to fill up first.

Whatever works best for you is what you should do I guess. A lot of things that used to annoy and upset me when I was younger now just roll off my back. I had to learn the world doesn't bend over backwards to accommodate anyone; but the world isn't my home, I'm just an alien here passing though. A person has to design their own life in such a way that they can be at peace.

Seems I am the old weird one here.
I just like the old ways and have a hard time adjusting to all these new ways.:(

You r not weird , unless......I'm weird too 🤪 . In the UK there is a very strong movement to ensure that all services can still b paid for with cash . I always try to as much as possible .

Yes mine calls me often if I travel or make a big purchase, to make sure it's legitimate. I appreciate that, and it's actually caught a couple of times someone copied the card when I used it at a store.
This can't happen with cash or with bitcoin; there are tradeoffs to anonymity / transparency

That’s a great advantage. I have experienced clerks trying to scam me using that method. Too bad for them that the purchase appears in my phone the second it’s made. They all had to pay me back every cent, in cash, right there. No “Madam/Ma’am/Mrs. please!” works with me!😡😂

I disagree it is safer.
Those getting cash back while I pay the full price also angers me.
Have you ever experienced identity theft? I have about 30 years ago.
Cost me over $30,000.
Have not used credit since then.
The day my retirement checks are deposited, I take the money out and put it in a safety deposit box at the bank and take it out as needed.

My friend, I have used plastic since the 1980s. I have not had an identity theft. My wife lost her wallet once. All she lost was the few dollars cash in it. All the plastic cards were quickly canceled and She had replacements within a few days. My bank notifies me when a new payee makes a charge.

I use plastic to pay for my purchases. I pay the full balance every month.
