ah yes, a southern specialty, not so much in the north U.S.
There is a story a northern person ordering breakfast in the south and saying to the waitress, "I didn't order grits and receiving the answer, "you don't order grits, you gets them".
Linked to the hard times of the American Civil War, or if you are from the south, the War of Northern Aggression.
Sunday here, the Lord's day, had wonderful rain, we were close to drought conditions.
blessings

Yes, it was hard times in the South in the American Civil War, coffee made with chicory was another adaptation and still is found in the south. Surprising to me, Nebraska is a large producer of chicory.
blessings to all.

I love learning about the civil war. I once did a study of all the battles. Amazing what those men had to go through.

I and many had ancestors there, it kept the Union together, the Union went on to aid in WW1 and WW2. WW1 resulted in Great Britain beginning the return to the Holy Land for the chosen ones, WW2 prevented the adversaries minions from destroying the Chosen Ones and resulting in the legal creation of Israel by David Ben Gurion.
The movie Gettysburg was filmed on location with thousands of reenactors present to help.

I really enjoyed the Gettysburg film. I suppose in films now all those extra's would be done using CGI.
