I have given him the name of Wally. I am hoping he has not taken up residence in my roof because how on earth will I get rid of him. I would have to call some type of possum whisperer or a wildlife warrior. I hope he is living in one of the large trees behind me and not in my roof and when he wants to get from A to B, I am hoping he walks around the house and not across my roof (n)

You'll know if they're in your roof because you'll hear them scurrying around up there.

Ohhh so that's how a possum looks like...
We had one here a few months ago, climbing on the roof too (and it's a metal roof so you can guess how loud it was)... so it's technically like a giant hamster on steroids :LOL::ROFL::ROFL:
For some reason I thought they looked more racoon-y...
 
Btw, there are no possums where I'm from (Europe) so please don't judge... (nor racoons, for that matter)... for me, that's just one more of those "Animal Planet" animals they kind of melt into one and the same look... medium size... fur... teeth... cute because furry, but mildly scary... :ROFL:

That one that the woman's holding is huge. They're usually about half that size. Maybe even a little smaller lol. I'm not even sure it's a possum lol.

Oh yeah? I did think in myself, goodness, that looks like it's on growth hormone and fed for slaughter... almost like she's holding a pig with fur

So basically (for the future reference),

Opossum: a guinea pig on steroids
Possum: a little rat on steroids

I think we had an opossum though, that is, if my husband is to be trusted :LOL:
Just kidding, he knows the native animals here. :)
 
Just watching a botanist show.
When there are young saplings too near an oak, competing for space, the tree launches a chemical attack through the roots against the sapling to kill it... :eek:
Some acacias produce tannins when overgrazed, killing the grazing animals, and furthermore produce gas, signaling nearby acacias to make more tannin in the leaves, killing more grazers... Thought plants were peaceful?
Plants kill one another, and kill animals too.

they usually don't stay in one place for very long, unless they're having a litter of little ones. then they'll move out as soon as the babies are big enough to follow mom
