So I got the fright of my life last night. I heard a thumping noise on my front verandah. I assumed it was the dog from next door coming to say hello which she sometimes does. It was 9pm, I opened the door only to see a pair of fluoro eyes staring back at me. I didn't switch the light on so I couldn't work out what it was. It was too big to be a cat, too small to be an elephant lol. Turns out it was a possum. One of these things:

I have given him the name of Wally. I am hoping he has not taken up residence in my roof because how on earth will I get rid of him. I would have to call some type of possum whisperer or a wildlife warrior. I hope he is living in one of the large trees behind me and not in my roof and when he wants to get from A to B, I am hoping he walks around the house and not across my roof

In southern Missouri you may see a few black bears though.

It's 2:30am here and I'm hearing two great horned owls speaking to each other across a great distance outside. They're not loud. I have my window wide open because its still 70 degrees outside. I hardly ever hear them and I really like hearing them.
