Kodiak? Lol...ok...when I went to Canada at age 5! This is for Roxxy too! Canada is Soooo beautiful yet ok....every lake I dipped my toe in...within 5 seconds an ugly black leech clung to my toe! Ugh...question is? Do Canadians have to deal with them ugh...leeches in every lake? Or hopefully it was just lakes I swam in? Just always wanted to ask that?![]()
Thank yooooooo! Heather!!!! All my life I thought ALL Canadian lakes had leeches...and I wanna take a vacation someday there Soooo bad! LolNo, only in certain lakes you will find them ... they are few and far between. We call them 'bloodsuckers'. Grampa used to camp with us at a little place called "Shaw Dam" and that lake was full! It was so hot that of course we went into the water, and there would grampa be, on guard, pulling them off of us. We have many beaches here in Ontario where there is none at all.![]()
good morning.
why are there not more Australians in this thread?
are you all too busy seeing our future?![]()
Lol no its more like 18 hours ahead or so I think, 6am here.wait...Australia has time zones, doesn't it??
i always thought they're between 8 and 10 hours ahead of eastern time, US?
at any rate, Breno's the one who said morning.
how's that for Christian fellowship?
i just tossed him right under the bus.![]()
Some of what you are talking about might be bad, but then it might not be bad. Not all wisdom and edification has to come from the pages of the Bible.I just wanted to share something that's bothering me.
I've tried to talk to 'a friend' who feels she's a Christian (has been for many years). We are childhood friends in RL but have stopped speaking recently since I began pointing out some error and counterfeit that she might be leaning into such as the god-self and various other new age hocus pocus nonsense lingo. She goes to church, reads the bible, post scripture, has christian friends, witnesses about Jesus, etc. However, I also see where she posts online about those new age thoughts or quotes as if they're equally wonderful things to embrace. Even if I try to talk to her about it, she politely ignores it all. How can a Christian have one foot in the world and one foot in the Kingdom and say that both are profitable for spiritual growth? How can we sift through the things of the world gathering what we assume is spiritually edifying and then discard the rest? My concern is that she is not listening to the Holy Spirit's voice but to a different voice.
I've tried to reason with her with an understanding that if we took a gallon of the purest drinking water and added a tablespoon of dung to it, would we still drink it saying it was safe. couldn't it possibly make us (spiritually) sick or contaminate our (walk/minds) body?
How should we view such behavior without condemning that someone in the Lord?
They are...
a. being deceived
b. being rebellious thinking that they know best
c. running after other gods
d. all the above
There is a way which seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Proverbs 13:12
Please pray for 'B' that the Holy Spirit will open her eyes to the truth of what she is doing. ty

Many great people all down through history have left us with tens of thousands of fantastic quotes..... AND many of them parallel the Bible. We can often use that simple fact to point out to people like your friend that God's word leads the parade of wisdom men think they have uniquely come up with.

This is too important for me to leave just yet. One of the truisms I still live by was made by a Lebanese poet....
"Do not say, 'I have found THE truth, rather say, "I have found A truth." This even applies to Jesus. Although, beyond the shadow of a doubt, He is THE truth, none of us can truthfully say we know all the truth of Him and His ways and teaching, and how He related to people and to God.
Another comes from Abraham Lincoln: "I don't think I like that man over there, I think I will go over and get to know him." This is literally loaded with wisdom and truth straight from many parts of the Bible.
I have often said, "Don't just parrot Bible verses at me..... this shows me nothing of your heart." I feel that if you cannot take God's word into yourself, and breathe it back out in your own esoteric words, and in your daily living, then you may have done little more than just learned some words on a page.
