Pretty sure Clinton banned them. Made no difference so they were allowed again. That was before my time in the US, any guys here know about this?
You are right, Clinton signed that bill.
There was a sunset clause, an expiration date on the ban. The problem is that wicked politicians don't want people to have weapons. They want to have complete control over who lives, dies and how much to steal from the slaves.
They start with scary looking black colored weapons that have optional accessories available. That's what they start with as "a reasonable gun law "
Then the keep pushing the momentum in that direction until their country is disarmed......except for the soldiers who do the will of the political establishment.

True assault weapons are machine guns/ fully automatic. The gt makes sure they know everyone who owns one and where to find the few of those in the hands of normal non gt people.
They falsely call the regular ones that are popular, but LOOK scary , assault weapons. They are semiautomatic meaning, one shot per pull of the trigger.

Bill Clinton signed the 1033 program in 1997 which gave local police departments military hardware in U.S.
That was the start of the radicalization.

Yes, my nephew explained this to me about assault weapons. We're in the south so guns are just part of their way of life. My nephew is smart as a whip and knows about everything there is to know about guns. When he gets on a topic, he learns it fully. In fact we were at an historic home and the lady showing us through mentioned a certain gun from a certain time period. My nephew politely corrected her facts and she said that she would hire him on the spot if he lived near by. But he did explain, using videos the same thing that you have explained about "assault" weapons.

I. Think that's separate because the assault weapons ban expired, but the police are still requesting military equipment. The sheriffs office is a 12 million dollar fortress with a paramilitary force. Even the new 911 emergency call office is a literal fortress . Why would they steal tens of millions of property tax dollars to build military installations and consider Joe public the enemies is what I wonder?

The equivalent to an AR15 in those days would not be a sword. It would be a ranged weapon, such as a Ballista or at least a bow and arrow.
That's ridiculous. Nobody fights battle with melee weapons today. PS, the AR isn't military grade despite what bragging preppers and owners will tell you, and the .223 round is a woman's round.

Tell that to the families of the dead. A lethal range of 500 yards is a woman's round? Do tell.

end of the day it's pretty light round, and 500 yard lethal range means nothing. a conspiracy theory about the choice of round for the m-16(which the a-r is a dumbed down version of) was to make it so women would be comfortable using it. the older garand was chambered in the much larger and far more powerful 30-06.

ps families have been getting shot since the dawn of man.

Sure. Except America has vastly more gun deaths for the size of the population than Australia, where guns are legal but strictly controlled. The rules here are sensible, and so our communities are safer. Lethal range means nothing? In that case, why permit weapons that have that kind of range? And the worse part is the capacity of the magazine, which allows shooters to get off 30 rounds before reloading.

yes lethal range means squat, a 22lr can be lethal to about 1.5 miles, that doesn't make it equal to an actual sniper rifle. 500 yards was the effective range of an 1873 sharps buffulo rifle, wanna ban those? as for capacity, they've had higher capacity magazines for over 100 years and since reloading a clip rifle takes about five or 10 seconds, it really makes little difference how much it holds.

It's a good thing that there are options. I've read about children home alone needing to fend off bad guys intent on harm. Those who are sensitive to muzzle blast may be better served with smaller calibers in order to hit their target, their food, their enemies to save lives of family members. Those politicians who have no problem eliminating tools like that from everyone but themselves talk about ammunition capacity like they have some sort of moral high ground. All it does is endangers those who need it for self defense.

As an adolescent/ young teen, my Mom ran to my room screaming. She was awaken by a strange man in the middle of the night. I grabbed my weapons of choice and told her to hold up in my room while I save my brother and clear the house. I had no confidence in the local police so I didn't even call their office.

I only had a single shot 410.
I also brought a small commemorative Pittsburgh Steelers baseball bat for the follow up shots when the high capacity assault weapon eventually runs dry.

I checked my brother first. He was still sleeping. Then I cleared the house room by room, closet by closet until returning to my bedroom.
Thank God, everyone was unharmed although Mom was shaken up. I found that the intruder broke in through the locked basement door. He escaped out the front door of the house because it was wide open.

Yes, it is this woman's round.
223 during windy day at 2,234 yards.

And He healed the poor soul that had his ear cut off. And the disciples had two swords between them. I do not recall anywhere in the book of Acts or the epistles where any believer used a sword to defend himself. I don't know why Jesus instructed the disciples to get swords.

The equivalent to an AR15 in those days would not be a sword. It would be a ranged weapon, such as a Ballista or at least a bow and arrow.
sword was the deadliest weapon in that day.

I do not propose outlawing guns. It's impracticable for a start. Cars don't kill people either, but there are controls on who can drive and in what condition they are in. Is it acceptable in America for someone to drive a semi if they have no licence to do so? Who needs an 18 wheeler to drive the kids to school? That's my point. No one outside of the military or security forces "need" an assault rifle.
In the military I often drove 18 wheelers while on duty, we did not need an licence.
