That is why I specified stay at home parent (rather than mother) since although it is not common, stay at home dads are not non-existent. I've known a few families over they years where mom is the primary breadwinner and dad holds a part time job when she's off work because her career pays considerably better that his did.

I would tend to agree but over the past 100 year educational standards have jumped exponentially from generation to generation. Pocket calculators weren't invent yet when I graduated HS. Computers were as big as houses and we only saw cell phones on Star Trek. Most adults are too busy working and are to deep in debt to take time out, go back to school to keep up with the changing times. Especially in regards to preparing kids for college. I never learned Algebra. It wasn't required. I had to go to college for psychology. My 9th grade grand children are learning both now. Sex Ed was and army VD protection film from WW2. Sex ed wasn't required and did require parents permission in the 10th grade. Times change now faster than most of us can keep up with. In most 2 parent families both parents work and expect public schools to teach their kids with tax money. It's all twisted but it is what it is and wishful thinking ain't gonna change anything.
 
Maybe people need to rethink education and schooling. I think a big positive outcome would be christian parents advocating for values or the Bible to be taught in schools, and parents can opt out if they dont want their child to learn it, which is what happens in nz. But thats only in primary schools, I dont know what dedicated christian outreach happens in high schools, although christian students tend to form their own fellowships.

More support for christian teachers too that work in public schools. And more support for independent christian schools or charter schools as they are called. Taxes are meant to be used to support children and the elderly and the sick who cant work basically so I would not mind if more tax money was used for those purposes and NOT diverted into useless spends where its funding warmongering activities.
 
The solo mother phennomen is a terrible blight on the population as said before those dads that abandon their own children are worse than infidels. The dads ought to be raising and teaching their own children.

This is why we need God to be our father as our fathers are absent, and dont teach us anything.

Now few people know that the Lord can help you out of a financial hole. How many of us are in one? The impact of debt on our families is HUGE. But how did you get in it in the first place? Thats what you need to examine, and talk it over with the Lord.

Calibob brought up good point that things change so fast these days with technology sometimes schools/parents find it hard to keep up.

The culture of teaching has changed and its more student centred now rather than teacher centred. Which is a good thing. Also class size doesnt actually matter if you have good teachers. And two or more teachers are better than one.

I think if you know how to read, you can pretty much teach yourself anything. You can go beyond what just one teacher, who may not always be available, can teach you. Do we still need teachers though? For sure. Do we still need to be around other students? For sure...other students can help others learn. You are not going to get that at home if you dont have any other brothers or sisters.
 
I posted a few thoughts on yours, but yea I started this topic as I work in a school and education is interesting to me. I sometimes wonder if parents are using school as babysitter or they are that interested or involved in what their children are learning. of course not all parents have been highly educated.

Children whos parents are also teachers are interesting cases I find.
 
In my country the school until bachelor/university level (if you are NOT temporarily staying transfer student/immigrant) is free. This applies to private, public and boarding schools (perhaps with the exception of accommodation) I did my primary school in public, and from high school up in private. Well to me the difference between public and private feels quite marginal. One school is getting funded X amount / year (public), the other X amount / graduated student (private) and both gets the money from gov.
Also the only christian school what would make difference to these was located 200 km away home which wasn't very inviting option.
Later I thought that going non christian Public/private was better option because I had education from other perspective and parents just supplemented it with the needed extra things.
