Rest is not the cessation of activity. Rest is operating from a position of legitimately delegated authority and doing nothin in your own strength. You are free to function according to the terms and condition of your authority because the One whose authority was delegated to you guarantees the outcome, so long as you function within the scope of the authority.

Hebrews 4:9-11 “There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.”
Agreed. Rest equals abiding/walking in the fullness of all that Christ has provided for us, including righteousness, holiness, & all of the other divine attributes pertaining to Christ-likeness that are otherwise impossible to accomplish through human determination and ability.

Those who believe and teach that rest includes God ignoring our sins, even before we commit them, have lost touch with both biblical reality & common sense. Biblical rest is simply ceasing from striving to be Christ-like by human means, and allowing the Holy Spirit to live the Christian life both in us & through us by living a lifestyle of daily reliance and complete trust.

Amen !!

“Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue;

and to virtue knowledge;

And to knowledge temperance;

and to temperance patience;

and to patience godliness;

And to godliness brotherly kindness;

and to brotherly kindness charity.

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:2-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus entered his rest when he died and went to heaven

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. “
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:9-10‭KJV‬‬

“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭14:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The spirit that is within you did not originate from creation, it originated from God. Therefore, it does not require creation to sustain it. Every word that proceeds from the mouth of God is the food for our spirits.

Acts 17:28 ‘For in Him we live and move and have our being.’

Ephesians 3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;

Hebrews 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

Hebrews 6:19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

Hebrews 6:20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

we’re not going to find a sabbath rest until we exit the world and enter the kingdom
why not?

We will not enter literal heaven or reseieve the promises of everlasting life until Jesus comes, but why can't we enter the sabbath rest each week?

Even if we fail to keep it perfectly we can try by faith and recieve the the blessing.

Faith is more then just beleiving. God made the sabbath rest for man and most people are saying it is nothing today.

Heb 4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

There’s no reason one shouldn’t of they feel It matters that’s not what I was saying. Whether to honor a day a week as holy to God by doing nothing would depend on your own faith regarding sabbath commandments

One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭14:5‬ ‭

if it’s important to any Christian they need to keep their conscience clean and honor the sabbath day. For another who understands everyday is the lords same day and we rest by following after him and trusting in his word his provisions and promises for our eternal Soul. we believer the faith Jesus preached and it gives us rest in our souls

I personally don’t find any one day different than the other days of the week every day is one we should rest in the gospel

Luke 13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
This is my daily prayer, ever since the gate was shown to me.

Jesus rebuked the scribes and pharisees for not entering and even hindering those that would (Matthew 23:13), Jesus told them where (Luke 17:20-21), because again they asked Him.

I fully agree, shown, shed abroad, exceedingly abundantly, in all certainty, abiding in Him, unto God. My prayers are to speak that which is unspeakable to show where it has said and been revealed to all that reads scripture whether it's seen or unseen by the reader (believer), to be a helper of another's joy, as He has simply asked that we do so.

As a newish homeschooling family, when I saw this book mentioned in a resource it immediately caught my eye. I looked it up at my library and there was only 1 copy. I was on a waiting list for nearly 6 months :eek:

I'm sharing about it here because maybe another homeschool mama is scrolling through this thread and could be encouraged by it. I haven't had a chance to read through the whole book yet, but there are a couple quotes that fit right in this thread that I will try to find again to share here later (actually, they are about resting in Him period- not just in regards to homeschoolers- gotta post these thoughts now so I'll remember to come back later and know where to come back to)
That being said, I think I need to just buy the book, and maybe the workbook too.

Matthew 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
Matthew 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
Matthew 11:14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
Matthew 11:15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Matthew 11:16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
Matthew 11:17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.

Matthew 11:18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.

Matthew 11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

Despite all those things Our Beloved Saviour went to the cross, so that through Him we could know His rest, if we would but learn to follow Him, even in our own generation today, the promises of God remain true for every believer that would follow after Him and find Him from the least to the greatest.

Jesus wasn't worried about any of it, He knew who He was and why He was sent, and the truth we all have been given remains His truth, just as we are to be His witnesses of His truth, which is again His word known as the Holy Bible. Yes, we should know each other by our fruits just as He said, and that through walking in His love that we are to know as well, which for me, are unspeakable words, however, I have His word to give and show it's real and alive in all His own.

Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Ephesians 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

1 Thessalonians 2:7 But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

A workbook on rest... :ROFL:

That hit my funny bone.

Hebrews 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

At least you would be following the instructions, humbly, as a child of God. Not like SDA, Hebrew Roots, Pharisees who try to teach a saturday "sabbath".

The workbook that we really need is the bible. First, Matthew 5 so you see what is required. Then, Matthew 11:28-30, so you can see Gods Way of accomplishing this. Then, John 15:4-5, so the Pharisees don't convince you to entangle yourself, again, with the yoke of bondage.

Did I follow His Instruction? Did I obey His Commandments? Did I receive Rest? If so, how is it that I am working at the Law in my own understanding, again?

Romans 11:33-36
33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?

35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?

36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Did I say "workbook"?
*scrolls up to check* :oops: guess I should've said "study guide" :) (because that's what it really is)

oh well, guess it does make for a good laugh,
and you've given me more to think on.
