No.

I think armed security is a good idea. Or,if proficient with weapons, carry concealed.

I think part of why psychotic people target Christians for violence is that they think we're meek, passive sheep who will make for easy targets .

I think the same thing also. The world don't know us.

True.

And media doesn't often report when armed civilians or off duty police take out would be shooters.

There seems to be a media agenda bent on making guns the problem in these attacks.
It's the gun! It's access to guns!

When in truth it's the mental state of the shooters. And those who wield knives. Those who drive cars into crowds. Those who load Tesla trucks with explosives so to blow them up in protest of Trump and Musk,etc...

When citizens take out a shooter, they hardly receive any attention. Because a good guy or woman with a gun stopped a bad guy using a gun to kill innocents.

It's a shame when we need to consider hiring armed security for church.

No, I'm not hesitant at all. I'm on the safety team at my church. I carry, always.
Recently, our leadership decided to hire off-duty police officers to be there, with the police car visibly parked in the parking lot. We have one at every service, plus the 4 or 5 safety team members mic'd up....

I liken it to pioneers.... you prepare for the eventuality that bad stuff might happen, and don't worry about it.

Yeah, it's important to remember that this is nothing new. The world has always done what the world will do. The Israelites had to take shifts defending and rebuilding the wall. Old paintings from colonial days depict a family going to church and the father carrying a musket. Even as recently as my childhood there have been attacks on churches.

But some people will insist on acting like this is some big new thing...

We have a security team and a plan of action if necessary. We have security cameras that cover the entire parking lot. This security system sends a live feed to each security member's cell phone. All doors are locked when service begins. Anyone can exit but no one can enter unless a security team member allows them to.
Any visitor who is not known by a member will be watched until they are believed to be there to study and worship.
The most important thing we do for security is to pray for the Lord's protection.

Not afraid to attend church at all.

The men's ministry has a gun club.

I think they need a name. What do you think of "The Pew Crew"?

Get it? Pew?

I'll show myself out.....

Howdy and welcome to the forum.

I'm in charge of cheesy jokes around here. I mean... You can make them if you want, but you should know up front that you have some stiff competition already. :geek:
