This passage makes me think of a few things.
It is God who brings us to the promised land, We may have our leaders, our pastors and teachers who try to Shepperd us, and help us, But God is the one who supplies all our needs..
I also love the symbololgy seen here,
Christ our rock was struck, so rivers of living water can be brought forth.
We just need to speak to God, and as he said, rivers of living water will spring forth welling up to everlasting life..
Moses was forgiven, we know that because he was seen with Christ by a few disciples.. God was using this tool to teach.. Christ is only stricken once,, And Christ and only Christ can lead us to the promised land..
A man who God uses to help may help. But once he takes his eyes off God. and take credit for himself. or do it of his own power. God will do something about it, Maybe not allowing that man to lead someone to Christ, even though he did all the work..
