That’s a physiological response… it’s not that uncommon… preparation to perform in the heat of such extreme conditions calls for a dedicated regime to ensure that people are not just physically prepared, but that they are mentally prepared, mentored, and led in a manner that helps the entire organization to help each other during those times… leaders have to assume some responsibility to ensure all of their personnel are both physically and mentally prepared…. Realistic training and building a cohesive unit are essential…I really wanted to let go of everything the first time I was in combat. I literally froze and was unable to breathe nor do anything useful and they had to slap me to make me wake me up, and then drag me out of there. It was so embarrassing afterwards. It was the full “girls ain’t fit for war” thing.

Everyone is wired for “fight or flight” response… but I believe that people can be reprogrammed (with proper training) to be prepared to ‘fight’ as a unit when the time arises…
