I cannot get the S icon to change into an avatar , nothing happens when I click on the S to set my avatar . It's no big deal , it wouldn't b a photo of me, it would b my cat , he's much better looking than me . I'd like to b able to do it though

It takes a little bit more than that here. Go to your account and access settings. On this page right here, tap on your own nickname. You will get a smaller window with some stats. On that new window, tap on your own nickname again. It will go to a completely different page with a full breakdown of your stats. In this window, that S circle should be a square, with an invitation to edit avatar.

Click your avatar at the top right hand side of the page and then hover over your larger avatar, it will say "edit avatar" so you click that...

Maybe try it in a different browser. Some things work on Firefox that don't work on Google Chrome, and some things work on Google Chrome that don't work in Microsoft edge. Browsers are weird that way.

What are you using to write here? What kind of device?
PC? Mac? Tablet? Phone?
And yes, that cat looks better than I do.
Might want to crop that picture to just his head though. In the circle form that appears on most pages, most of the details along the edges will be lost. That will probably include his eyes and ears.
