Though I tend to evolve in stages.
Princesses avoid,
An imp is annoyed,
When you see me in antique pages.

This is a little tough because in antique/medieval images, paintings, what a Princesses would avoid (like unclean places/people/things) are not things that would make an imp appear annoyed, and visa versa.

So for that part, it can't be one thing, but instead multiple things. Which makes me think it'd have to be the media itself, like medieval art/drawings/paintings. One could say it's kept people warm and evolved in stages. I'll guess that.

No, you're not correct.

It is a specific object (like a refrigerator) but not a unique object (like the Taj Mahal).
 
Clue: "An imp is annoyed" is a reference to a specific imp being annoyed by a specific situation when this object showed up in antique pages. It's not a claim that this object will annoy every imp who encounters it.

Yes, that's correct!

They have kept many warm by being an integral part of making clothing, blankets, etc.

They evolved in stages from drop spindles to walking wheels to treadle wheels to the massive machinery we see today.

Spinning was not typically the job of princesses, but one princess famously avoided spinning wheels in Sleeping Beauty, with the king even ordering every spinning wheel in the land to be destroyed. Rumplestiltskin was the annoyed imp, and both of these stories are antique tales.

My start in life is often gritty

But those with skill can make me pretty.

Common I am, simple I'm not

Depending on what's to be wrought.
