Are all artists who draw these kinds of depictions required to learn to sketch the naked human body first?

/QUOTE]In my art class at night school I was (unfortunately) limited to drawing flowers in a vase. Just kidding about the 'unfortunately' part. Yeah, OK. :p:cool:

What are your opinions on nudity within art?

Is nude art acceptable or not? Where is the line drawn?

As an artist facing ambivalence regarding selling my drawings, I look for some opinions.
As long as its not Hillary, paint away.

God created us naked, innocent and beautiful. As long as we enjoy art as a celebration of this reality, there is no harm in it.

I remember a LOOOOONG time ago, when Roseanne Barr was just getting started, she was on a talk show, and was asked if she would do nudity in a movie.... she said that the only way she would do it was if it was an essential part of the story..... or, if someone asked her to.
Cracked me up.

Or when Carson (I think) had Larry Gatlin on his show and asked him what he would do if someone asked him to do nudity in a movie. He said that he wouldn't do that, because he had kids, and they might see it, and he didn't want all their friends at school teasing them "I saw your daddy naked!" kind of thing. Carson asked him, what if they offered you a million dollars to do it? Gatlin said, Son, I'd get nekkid so fast it'd make your head spin..... you can pay for some pretty good private education for that kind of money...

Of course, that was back in the 70's I think, and a million dollars went a lot further than today... but it was still funny.

I love the pensive look in your "imaginary woman's" eyes.

It fits you spectacularly.

I LOVE color, and not just color, but bright colors -- they help lift my depression. BUT, I have found that certain black and white images REALLY bring out things like contemplation, sorrow, and raw emotion (depending on what the artist wants to communicate,) a lot more than color, which I love.

In other words... YES!!! Please, go right on experimenting! ❤️
In the progress of forming this image, I hulled out the eye sockets so I could properly place the eyes (and they are still a bit off from perfectly positioned). Of course, I could do a lot better if I had a physical model to go off of, but this was done with any point of reference in mind (A lot of erasing and redrawing...the kneaded eraser was always one of my essential go-to tools). And I would've had even more difficulty without have mastered the exercise in drawing the skull.

If I ever get properly motivated, I would like to take some lessons in painting in watercolors. Flowers and seascapes Maybe some animals. Stuff like that.

Watercolour was too delicate for me and conversely sculpture too heavy/earthy. I did love drawing and painting,
though, and after the use of oils, which were messy to clean up after, acrylics were very easy to work with. I hope
you do get some time to pursue the pleasure of seeing how closely you can copy with your hand what your eye sees.

Of course Burt had lots of hair to cover his, ah, masculinity, which they also hid behind his hairy arm.
Perhaps I should invest in hair before beginning my modeling career.

I can honestly say without discrepancy that no one has ever wanted to draw or paint me with or without clothing.
Your sitting fee was just too high! 😁
They told me I had to pay. Evidently the painting fee was higher than the sitting fee.
Lol!

This reminds me of one of the financial chats I listen in on... It's a bunch of young guys, late 20's, 30's, and some early 40's, so of course it's mostly guy talk.

One of them mentioned a city in the US that apparently made a decree that since men could go topless in public, so could women. Of course all the guys were saying they second this decision and that they'd like to make a trip there.

I was like, "You guys do realize that whenever something like this is passed, the women who want to take advantage of it to show off are usually the ones you all would pay to put their clothe back on..."

None of them argued with that!

(I don't know from experience, I've just heard complaints.)

Try it with a different browser. On my phone Firefox won't post images on this forum, but Chrome will. (NOOOOO idea why. I think it's something weird with this forum. It's the only place on the whole internet this has ever happened to me.)
