if a vagrant asked me for help getting together enough money to trade for a beer for himself, i'd like to give him two beers, and get a third, sit down & spend the time drinking it with him.
am i wrong?

No. You still do not understand what I am saying I am not saying what you think I amI see the danger you're speaking of, but it doesn't speak to what I've been saying. Yes, when we hold up the law we risk sending the message that righteousness comes through it. But that doesn't separate righteousness from the law, it just means we have to view the law with Christ as the lens. The law is still righteous and just, sin didn't change that. Yet it is just as we cannot allow the risk of licence dissuade us from preaching security so must we not let the fear of abuse of the law dissuade us from preaching obedience.

can you really be sure of that? ♥

Obedience to the faith (Romans 1:5; 16:26).
Obedience unto righteousness, not sin unto death (Romans 6:16).
Obedience of your thoughts to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Obedience to Christ.
Jesus said:
And why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things that I say? (Luke 6:46).
This would extend to the Bible as a whole since Jesus' words are God's words (John 14:24) and Christ came to magnify the law and make it honorable (Isaiah 42:21); moreover, Paul said that the we establish the law (Romans 3:31).
Make of it what you will.
I would really like for you to just answer the question.
Like I said , we need to be wise...
I could not have my conscience that I gave someone money knowing they were going to use it for drink/drugs because it could be them pennies of mine that could cost them their last breath...
We are to be wise as serpents , and gentle as doves...
Fruit is the expected and obligatory sign that accompanies salvation.
Just as being wet is the expected and obligatory sign of having gone swimming.
Are you familiar with the two main 'signs' in the old covenant?
Just as physical circumcision was the sign of being born into the nation of Israel, so it is that spiritual circumcision (the putting off of the deeds of the flesh) is the sign of being born into the kingdom of God.
Just as Sabbath keeping was the sign of the obedient resident of Israel, so it is that entering into the spiritual Sabbath (rest from the taskmaster of sin) is the sign of the obedient resident of the household of Christ.
The forensic thinking is a bit off. Justification in Paul's letters is more like right standing in front of a king rather than a matter of guilt. And that can change depending on purity without innocence being declared. The idea of a court picture was introduced by Augustine and has been the primary motif ever since, but its not the one found in the writings of the Greek fathers or the apologists. One thing it boils down to is defining when someone "believes" that seems to be separating the two of you, as you seem to be placing a much stronger requirement on the word than Judges if I am reading your comments right. In effect, belief itself is a fruit of salvation.
And that can change depending on purity without innocence being declared.
Not sure what this means
Not about a court of law.
But God acts a judge, yes?
Everybody here who can only see 'save yourself' in scripture as a person working to earn their salvation, that's who.Who doesn't understand it?![]()
Amen, We give them food. And things they need. Not moneyLike I said , we need to be wise...
I could not have my conscience that I gave someone money knowing they were going to use it for drink/drugs because it could be them pennies of mine that could cost them their last breath...

"in increasing measure" - 2 Peter 1:8
Who said it was?Well this verse is not regarding losing salvation...
2 Peter 1:8 shows us that it is the changed and changing nature of a person that proves salvation. How much sinlessness proves salvation?
As I've shown you several times now, the Bible says being a changed/ changing person is the evidence of salvation and is the dividing line between the saved and the unsaved....and even if it was... It is still not clear and specific where the dividing line is.
You cannot deny this.
Sorry been busy, And just quickly responded to what you were saying beforeI'm trying to understand. Am I overthinking it?
That is what religion does to us sadlyYes for sure...
One person once , a women nearly stood up to me , she was not happy , she was with her boyfriend , she was very hostile to me and let me know she was having none of it , I then left her alone and funny enough , that was when I believe God was saying to me , this is not how I want you to be , nor be in these places...
One time , a young lad about 20 yrs of age , he was gay...
He was a friend of my daughter...
I sat with him in the same pub telling him that he will be going to hell if he does not accept Christ , and told him his sin will put him in hell...
The next day , people who knew me where saying how bad I was for this , the boy ended up in tears , my daughter at the time was furious with me and told me to mind my own business , I do not know to this day if that boy took any notice to be honest , but I was a babe in Christ and very abrupt , I have changed now thank God , and have learned about loving those who need to hear the word...

lets put it this way.
Imagine you have purchased the best car money can buy, The most reliable. fuel efficient, percent car.
The purpose of the car is to Get from point A to point B.
However, no matter how perfect it is, or how great it is, It still must be used for the purpose it was created.
If I use the car to get from LA (point A) to New York (point B). It does what it is created to do perfectly.
However, if I try to use it to get from New York (point A) to London, England (point B) it will fail, because it is taken outside of its created purpose and design
The same thing goes with the law.
To use it to show us who God is, and what he is, and lead us from self to Christ (its created purpose) it is perfect in every way to lead is to that because that is what is was created for
however, if we try to use to to learn how to live righteously, And learn to be sanctified in our day to day living, It will fail, because that is not what it was created for. It was never designed for that purpose
