My only experience with "re-dedicating" in the services has been in Pentecostal churches.
No sir, Paul said in 2 Corinthians 2.1-11 the church should forgive him and comfort him....it would not seem his flesh was not destroyed now does it?
But I determined this for my own sake, that I would not come to you in sorrow again. [SUP]2 [/SUP]For if I cause you sorrow, who then makes me glad but the one whom I made sorrowful? [SUP]3 [/SUP]This is the very thing I wrote you, so that when I came, I would not have sorrow from those who ought to make me rejoice; having confidence in you all that my joy would be the joy of you all. [SUP]4 [/SUP]For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears; not so that you would be made sorrowful, but that you might know the love which I have especially for you. [SUP]5 [/SUP]But if any has caused sorrow, he has caused sorrow not to me, but in some degree—in order not to say too much—to all of you. [SUP]6 [/SUP]Sufficient for such a one is this punishment which was inflicted by the majority, [SUP]7 [/SUP]so that on the contrary you should rather forgive and comfort him, otherwise such a one might be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Wherefore I urge you to reaffirm your love for him. [SUP]9 [/SUP]For to this end also I wrote, so that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things. [SUP]10 [/SUP]But one whom you forgive anything, I forgive also; for indeed what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, I did it for your sakes in the presence of Christ, [SUP]11 [/SUP]so that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes.
He simply changed his mind towards the sinning that he was doing that the Corinthians tolerated and thus it was like leaven to them.
Paul decided to turn him over to satan for the destruction of the flesh but it looks like he repented of his behavior before he was destroyed by the enemy.
Bruce,
The Baptists do it all the time here in the USA, espeically at the youth summer camps...
Umm.... Was there an answer to my questions in there somewhere? To 'attain' salvation.
I see you don't understand the argument either.
Oh, well.
And of course, we can all have a dead faith and it will save us because a poor slob was nailed on a cross and could only move his lips to ask Jesus to remember him, yet was saved despite his 'dead' faith. Will the madness ever stop?
Just have to throw this in, just to think about. The thief on the cross...Was his works, that he believed Jesus, and was sorry for what he did? Just wondering
Good morning Dcon,
Are YOU living a life of love?
Maybe if you believed you HAD to, for whatever reason,
You'd make more of an effort to show love to your Brother Chrisitans?
Just saying.
Do I attack you personally?
No. Because I have the bible on my side.
WHY do you Always attack me personally???

Amen, there is another one, they tell us to fear god and stop sin, yet they do not fear God or his wrath to those who will stand in judgment,
as moses said, whoever does not confirm and obey ever letter is under a curse, and as Paul and Jesus claim, that curse is still in effect, the law has not been done away with, one and your done is what God says, and James said it did not matter how small a sin you think you commit, how sorry you are, how much you think it was a mistake, it makes you guilty of the whole law,
guilty = death
cross = life
they chose works and replace the cross with those works
????
When a friend comes round and suggests you do something, do you say, if I agree it means
they are my friend or if I suggest something else he is not my friend? No, you discuss the
issues and come to a conclusion and act on it.
So Paul is saying because Christ is our Lord and saviour and we have died to sin, and live
in righteousness we offer ourselves to do acts of righteousness and not acts of wickedness.
This is the fulfillment of salvation, its fruit and its reality.
It strikes me some do not actually believe what Paul is writing, that we are free and healed
for sin and its bondage. Why not?
Personally Peter, I think you are speaking of walking upright but thinking it is righteousness.
Imputed is what Jesus is being applied to our very being. Walking upright is a moral life.
Do I attack you personally?

Oh...that must be a fun time - the way that the Pentecostal churches I went to do it - it was a major con job and manipulation technique.
I'm sure they had good intentions but then again the gospel was so severely watered down in the churches I went to - they had to resort to this type of activity to control people.
It is all man-made traditions and just shows that the true gospel was never being preached to them. Works-based belief systems have this mindset.
wow, who is defending dead faith? Name one person, and show us the post where they defended it! By showing how anyone said a child of God will never do works.
