I was thinking very similarly. As long as your around, I will always look bad.![]()
It’s like pitting Mother Theresa and Adolf Hitler we are that far behind, not hope!I was thinking very similarly.
Just because God shows us in 1 Cor 9:23-27 and other places that we can lose our salvation does not mean that we are not saved by grace. What are your thoughts regarding the book of Ephesians which states time and again we are saved by grace through faith?
No word for Benefits or blessings in the Greek. 7 paraphrases that got it wrong. Shame because some of them claim to be translations.
Most of these are literal or direct translations.
(DLNT 1Cor 9:23) And I am doing all things for the sake of the good-news, in order that I might become a co-partner of it.
(NET 1Cor 9:23) I do all these things because of the gospel, so that I can be a participant in it.
(KJV 1Cor 9:23) And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
(GUV 1Cor 9:23) And I am doing this (on account of) the glad tidings, in order that I may become a fellow–partaker of it.«
(Diaglot 1Cor 9:23) This but I do on account of the glad tidings, that a co–partner of it I may become.
(SLT 1Cor 9:23) And this I do on account of the good news, that I might become a partaker of it.
(YLT 1Cor 9:23) And this I do because of the good news, that a fellow-partaker of it I may become;
(1Co 9:23 ASV) And I do all things for the gospel's sake, that I may be a joint partaker thereof.
(1Co 9:23 EMTV) Now this I do for the sake of the gospel, in order that I may become a partaker of it with you.
At this point we can look at the Greek.

You are funny. I responded here. And it actually is a response to what you claim in this post. A thorough one.Once again you never responded to my reply.
But that is okay...because we know you will deny that, I along with others, have refuted your claim that the passage was about salvation, Paul was in fact speaking about his ministry and rewards.
I am sorry but You are wrong.
It is the Gospel of Christ wherein we are saved according to the context of the passage. See 1 cor 9:12,18
The verses chapter 9:23-17 say what they say Elevenhour. There is no way around it my friend other than to say that our God inspired Paul to write poorly. Because the sentence structure and context dictate that he is saying that we can reach a point where we are not partaking of the Gospel of Christ wherein we are saved. And he compares it to THE Prize, the ultimate incorruptible crown. We can deny it but it does not change it.
Paul says,
1Cor 9:26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly ( not aimlessly; not as one who has no fixed goal) so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
Paul says, "I therefore so run". HOW SO? Not as uncertainly ( not aimlessly;not as one who has no fixed goal) so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But as one that is striving for mastery that he obtain the prize, the Gospel, the INCORRUPTIBLE CROWN.
1Cor 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway (REPROBATE, REJECTED).
So in closing GOD through Paul describes this not running AIMLESSLY BEATING THE AIR, as one who is striving for mastery, being temperate in all thing, keeping his body, and bringing it into subjection. THEN HE STATES WHY he is doing it. He says, "lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway (REPROBATE, REJECTED)."
A castaway, rejected, a reprobate. Not to partake of the Gospel, the PRIZE, THE INCORRUPTIBLE CROWN with us.
Our Lord and savior does not stop there though HE CONTINUES WITH THE Same CONTEXT IN THE NEXT CHAPTER. He starts the NEXT CHAPTER WITH THE WORD "MOREOVER". SO let's take a look shall we? And as we look keep in mind what happen to those whom were overthrown in the wilderness. That tempted Christ. Idolaters, murmurers, fornicators, lusting after evil things not bring the body under subjection, a castaway Tempting Christ.
.
1Cor 10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
1Cor 10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
1Cor 10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
1Cor 10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
1Cor 10:9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
1Cor 10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
1Cor 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
1Cor 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
But there is hope.
1Cor 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape (Christ in you), that ye may be able to bear it.

I will pray for it,as well, be a character witness!Such humility!!!!
...I think you should be promoted...I will make a special petition to God in my prayers tonight.

I'm out of ideas.Very Good.... I am glad we have understanding then..... that should work in your favour proving your salvation
and moving up the saved ladder.
Well everyone knows I am super saved so that is not the issue for me...it is completely self evident for all to see.
..I might even be promoted soon....but now to keep my salvation and my high status in tact I drove well within the speed limit and I let left space so people could cut in front of me...and smiled all the while.![]()
So you are done with 1 cor 9 then. Why go to Romans when we are looking at 1 cor. Nothing in Romans contradicts 1 cor.You never addressed Romans which was part of by rebuttal?
I remember giving gas money once. I once gave $800 to a junkie. And forgave the debt.
Amen! The righteousness that exceeds the "righteousness of the scribes and the Pharisees" is the righteousness of God which is from God by faith. What did Jesus mean by that statement? Is that meaning the righteousness of Christ given to believers?
Exactly!!!!Wrong
Not a metaphor ...
Physical birth is real, unchangeable and once
Spiritual birth is a reality, unchangeable and once
haahhahahah Jesus finishes and completes the work of faith in us and we are KEPT BY HIS POWER through the IRREVOCABLE gift of life....You are the delusional one if you think for one minute that you maintain anything!!Many will be DECIEVED in the last days wherein they believe a LIE and are damned!
Salvation was a one time purchase made of God by His son Jesus!
It is freely given to whosoever WILL!
You are delusional if you think it doesn't have to be maintained!
Do you pray?
Do you study
Do you witness?
MAINTENANCE!
Do you obey the commandments of Jesus to LOVE?
Again MAINTENANCE
By having FREE WILL at any time we can neglect, abuse ignore it, or refuse this precious gift,it is NOT FORCED!
There are many sins not of the body but if the mind and heart also such as stubborness, pride, arrogance, usefulness ect ect.....
IN reading this thread and yes I've read the whole thread many herein display such and will be so judged if repentance isn't done!
PLEASE put on HIS righteousness today and lay aside those things that separate one from God!
