I can share why we forgive ourselves and love ourselves. This just recently came to me. It's because we are members of His body and to not love ourselves, is to not love Him.

There is no salvation and then walking away and losing it...that is a lie from hell....anyone who walks away was never of us to begin with per JOHN.....they never had salvation to begin with!!

I served my country because I love it, not because I thought she deserved it. Quite frankly I do not think she deserves it today, but I still love her and would serve her still
The point you are making though Meggido...to identify now with His righteousness, rather than our sinful past that we died with Jesus in His death, and are now risen with in resurrection life. True?

Maybe the verses you used to arrive at your thinking that we deserved to be saved would help us understand how you are viewing it.
God showed His own love for us in this: while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. He gave His life for the sins of the whole world. Those are paraphrases, not direct quotes from Scripture. You got that right. Doctrines of late have taught the lie of no evidence of conversion. It is not a biblical doctrine, and many are deceived by that lie. Then, on the other hand, when you teach evidence of conversion some automatically run to the misnomer of "You're preaching a works gospel, or a burdensome gospel!"
I say "Really, now?" The working of God in us, (Philippians 1:6; 2:12, 13; 1 John 5:3; Matthew 11:30) is actually a burden? Some need to rethink their theology, this "no evidence" doctrine has done much damage to the church and to proper Gospel theology. There is no way one can have the fruit of the Spirit and show no evidence; Galatians 5:22-23.
Exactly correct, unconditional election. Undeserved. Unmerited. Unchangeable.
I agree. We are drawn by Him, chosen by Him, sealed within by Him, and we are faithful because He is faithful to us. Same as we love Him because He first loved us.
We need to get humble before Him to realize it, illuminated by the Holy Spirit of God
