That's actually what I was trying to say, I must not have phrased it well lol.

I guess you could say "blatant sins" become less of an issue as we mature.

Like, it's easy to think of losing your temper as "just something we all do sometimes", and although that's somewhat true, as a maturing Christian I see it as a much bigger deal than I did 20 years ago.

But yes, in my experience, anyone who claims to have "ceased from sin" is just using too narrow a definition of sin. If they consider themselves mature then it's time to raise their standards and get that iron razor-sharp.

Hope that made sense 🙂.

Yes, it makes very good sense. SIN is the problem that leads us to do or not do other things that we call sins. As we recognize SIN, and battle it, the little actions, especially the blatant ones, become easier to avoid. Focusing on the actions that flow from SIN is to miss what the real problem is,.

@Underd0g A sister friend shared something with me a couple of months ago about someone who treated his 85 y/o mother with early Alzheimers with something called silicade that detoxifies the body of aluminum, which some people suspect is responsible for some neuro-degenerative type diseases. She apparently lived until 96 with an improved condition. The guy's name is Dennis Crouse. I noticed Dr Sam Bailey has something of his on her website. I'm familiar with her from covid days.

Where have I said that I tolerate sin? I merely have said that I recognize sin as something that must always be battled, and that I hope to avoid the most blatant forms. But read 1 John 1:8-9, how is this passage relevant to anyone if we can actually manage to stop sinning. Remember Paul's three tenses that are used when referring to our salvation, we are saved, we are being saved, and we will be saved. When we are sully saved, when we have full salvation (remember the Greek word used for salvation is associated with healing) we will be fully healed from our sin nature, but we will not be fully saved on earth.

I don't see permission to poke God in the eye here.

Hi @Underd0g , no worries we are here to help! I know it can take time to shake off mindsets but kudos to you for working on it 👏. I'm impressed that you're re-reading everything in the thread, I do the same when I start a thread trying to figure something out. Just be open and prayerful and I think your answers will come.

Side note, sweet essay! Donna is a beautiful lady, yall are so cute together ❤. I know it was an old picture, but still. It's clear you still adore her. I'm sorry you are both having to deal with this but it's still a sweet testimony. I look forward to meeting her in Heaven.

Easy to forget, our lives are just a loan;

And sweet shall be, that glorious day

When every tear is wiped away

And all makes sense,

these current torments

That plague our earthly way.

No asking "why?" In the sweet by and by

When we'll know as we are known.

Regarding sin, as we mature in Christ it becomes less of an issue, but I find myself being held to a higher standard as I mature.

So although I don't smoke, look at porn, get drunk, commit fornication, spend or eat excessively, anger quickly, etc...... The Lord is still perfecting me and I get corrected for other "smaller" things. A hint of pride, a tinge of envy.... not witnessing when I should.... it can be anything really. It just gets more and more precise as we grow, like sharpening a dull blade... at first you're taking off a lot of material but as time goes on it gets more precise, less material to take off but that's when the REAL sharpening happens. You are probably at that stage as well, so just embrace it! Jesus will complete the work, we just have to stay workable 🙂.

Best to you and lovely miss Donna!

How can I criticize that?
So sweet.
May I gently ask that you add standing up for people who have been abused by the church to your list of desires for growth?

I am not sure that sin becomes less of an issue as we mature, it seems to me that while it is easier to avoid some actions that are sinful, I become more aware of many other things that I do or do not do that are just as sinful in God's eyes, even if fellow humans do not consider them sins.

I addressed that with my post #153
I even return my shopping cart after I use it.

Of course, you are making sense. What I am addressing is blatant.
There is a cover-up culture in the church.
With the police, it is called the blue wall.
With the church, it's a cover-up culture.
It works the other way as well. As we mature, the things we didn't think were so bad are now terribly offensive to God.
The old switcheroo.

Hey! A solution!
Are you sure you're posting on the right thread?
I'm going to watch, but to educate you in the ways of caring for dementia. My life is worse than prison for motivation to work out. I have no interaction with the outside world.
Trying to do something that brings discomfort consistently would be easier if I had somebody who checked on me occasionally. Someone who said "attaboy".
It is extremely difficult to do that kind of work only for yourself.
My wife doesn't notice anything I do. Once in a blue moon, she'll say thank you when I give her something to drink.

But the idea that somebody would take the time to research for me is the type of relationship that I would like to encourage.
There is so much effort here to figure out how to poke God in the eye and get away with it that so few realize the answer is in solutions!

I can't remember the last time I said this, but God bless you!

I have respect for people who pass on information they think will help.
To let you know, it is a common occurrence for these remedies to be passed on to people in my position.
There are so many with their opinions of each product that it is more of a market than a known solution. Turmeric is a popular one. Without a control group, or even with a control group, there is no way to know its benefits.
It's just not possible to know if anything helps or even might hurt. Every patient is unique.
I was prescribed things that I later heard caused memory loss.
She was prescribed Namzaric, and I challenge anyone to definitively declare it was effective.
She was prescribed Risperdone when she had hallucinations, but was not taken off it until I decided it was not necessary. I had to judge if it was hurting because I am the one watching her every day.

I had to enlist a hospice group recently, and they are ready to use all kinds of medications.
I won't allow it. It's a money grab. They will weaken her.
My experience watching friends and family in rehab and nursing homes is that the less you put into their bodies, the better.

I know this doesn't relate to your suggestion, but you should know the potential that cures can also be a business.

Ok, let's try it this way.

Someone becomes aware of churches that abuse and cause great pain.
After all, children are being scarred for life. Families are torn apart.
Young adults are deconstructing the Bible and their faith.
They want to be part of the solution, so they blow the whistle.
Like @pinebeach, here is the consistent reaction:

I too have received some significant clarity. Some people think you have as much time to waste as, apparently, they do. I see a pattern of self inflicted problems and no resolution other than to blame everyone else. May have got too close to home. shrugs

Live and learn I guess.

So the whistle blower still tries to make a difference and reaches out and gets this:

My friend, i read all those links and the comments thereafter and i honestly don't see how Pinebeach has done anything wrong.

Did the whistleblower know if his grievances were truly understood by @Eli1?
The whistleblower has no idea. He can only wonder why there was no explanation as to why @Eli1 shared such a callous, cynical opinion.

How long do people last with this current to fight against?
As far as I'm concerned, for my entire life.
I don't care to defend sin. I don't care if I "will never be perfect".

This is a lot of hubbub to trash one scripture, "Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand!"
That John the Baptist should look in the mirror and see that he is just blaming his personal problems on the masses.
He must be self-righteous. (sarcasm)

I may miss what someone considers a salient point.
It's going to take me days to comb over everything.
If there is something you consider of extreme importance, message me.

I just had an epiphany.
Is anybody thinking that I believe we can become as God?
Is perfection for humanity the same as the uncreated triune creator?
What about living beyond reproach?
What about living perfectly as God intended for you?
What about serving your purpose perfectly?
What I am posting is not "perfect" and equal according to the character of God, but it is the best that I can do in my walk and understanding of my calling to serve Him at this exact time.
What I'm doing is "perfected" by God and taken by Him to use as He sees fit in order to perfect those around me.

I remember all of one Greek word I heard in the 80's. It's the only Greek word I know.

Teleios

Google it on A.I.
It's life-altering.
I'm hopeful right now.

I needed to say something more to you.
I credit your posting what you did with this personal realization that I experienced.
You brought me back to the roots of what I care about, and that is solutions.
There was an obstacle I had to overcome. This better understanding of perfection was an excellent development. God has more to come.

You addressed one problem among a myriad of problems and brought a Godly perspective.

You listened to the Holy Spirit and obeyed. I don't know how much closer to perfection you could get on such a flawed, twisting, and tortuous thread.
Thank you for reminding me.

However, I blame you for my lack of sleep. I've had such an overdose of dopamine to my brain that it's going to take me a while to conk out.
On the plus side, I'm having some very beneficial words with God. I'm dealing with some stuff, and it's going well.
In fact, I don't want to fall asleep and miss this. It's a red-letter day. I will remember what you did.

Here is another thing I haven't said for a very long time... thank you for your prayers.

You like to refer to "poking God ion the eye. Does God view such things as being poked in the eye or does He gleefully view it as "my child recognizes my face and is trying to touch it?

You like to ask ."what sins do you tolerate", but I have not yet seen which ones YOU tolerate.

I have no idea if it will help or not. I would simply like to see the one you love so much returned to you. What I posted cannot be considered a money grab because you can make it yourself.

btw be careful about tumeric. I have read that unscrupulous people cut it with lead chromate in order to enhance its color because of added fillers.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply anything personal about you. I have been approached for something similar as a scheme. I didn't think the same about you. I saw your genuineness. But I don't have faith in those kinds of products. Plus, my Donna is well into stage seven.
What you said about turmeric is part of my cynicism about cures for cognitive decline.
Thanks for sharing something you think would help.

You will have to be very informed on this thread to understand my post.

I'm not the same person who created this thread, so please don't hold me to that standard.
I'm sorry for my missteps and outright obtuseness. (Sins of ignorance, so to speak.)

I don't know when God will place whom into my life, but I can't rush it artificially.

Not to say starting this thread was disobedience to God, but what I learned wasn't what I set out for.
I achieved some of the tools I needed for that goal. I now know better how to search.

I was expecting a hangover from last night because of the lack of sleep, dopamine hit, and I figured I'd get slammed by some doubt and unbelief, but it wasn't that bad. I was prepared for it.

Thank each and every one of you who experienced this with me. My hope is that you, too, have grown.

I'm going to hang around on this thread long enough to try to repair any damage that I did.

I'll donate some money here for the server space I used. Thank you, Christian Chat.
I owe you more than money.
