More layers or more heat?

I prefer cooler temps, so I usually just wear a hoodie and tshirt around the house. I do run heat, but not too high. Around 67, being winter. Much cooler and my lips will dry out.
Though I prefer cooler temps I seem to have a bit of an issue with it, as well. Possibly thyroid related.
I have blankets and a heating blanket for when I get too cold.

A good plan, i find my thermostat stays around 67 for best comfort.
During day i take a few green coffee beans to increase the metabolic rate, warms me right up in about 10 minutes.
 
No air conditioning, no heater, just a ceiling fan and one blanket, while wearing a t-shirt and undies.
 
It's that time of year again. Time for everything to freeze, including us.

I have observed there are two kinds of people. Those who deal with cold by putting on more layers and those who deal with it by cranking the heat up.

So which are you?

Do you hibernate under a mound of blankets? Or do you crank up the heat and walk around in a T-shirt?

Either way, what are your extremes? If you're the kind to cover up, how low do you let it go before you finally turn on the heat? If you're the kind to crank it up, how high do you let it fly?


I want my room cold and under a warm pile of blankets. If I'm feeling under the weather I put on my heating blanket, dive under the covers and room is cold enough to hang meat. Hubby says I'm part polar bear. At least I hope that what he means when he says that. :eek:

Hahaha I'm not even a big fan of fish. And I'm from a Canadian province known for its fishing industry. I couldn't even get my head around eating rabbit that my grandfather used to catch. When I think seal meat I think blubber, ick, now I'm tummy sick.:oops:

Wait... What's wrong with rabbit? A big ol pot of rabbit gumbo is delicious!
 
In the winter we keep the thermostat at 60 deg F and wear whatever we need to to stay warm. I mentioned to my wife that we really are at the mercy of the gas company as you can only go so low before your pipes freeze. We both prefer it cold but 60 indoors is cool enough. I wear layers and a watch cap. During the summer months we set the thermostat to 78, but most of the time we have the thermostat turned off in the summer and we open the windows each evening when it gets cooler outside than it is inside. Just trying to keep the bills manageable. I have a hard time sleeping when it is warm... I much prefer 60 when trying to get to sleep.
 
Seals, I have read that missionaries in the Great White North abridged the Lords Prayer for the locals who had no concept of bread to " give us this day our daily seal".(y):unsure::coffee:

Reckon what do they turn the fig trees into? I know they don't have figs up there.

There's a lot of berry bushes in the far north. High bush and low bush cranberries, raspberries, strawberries, nagoonberries... all of the wild variety.
That works!

And when he saw a raspberry bush in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the raspberry bush withered away.

Well I was quite young. Perhaps I was focused more on the fact that it was a rabbit. I have a funny picture of you younger sister and our cousin, they were about 3 yrs old and they are holding the rabbits that my grandfather skinned. Both of them walking around with flat rabbits. lol My grandfather was a fisherman, a hunter, a carpenter and also worked in the logging business. So he was literally a jack of all trades. He also loved moose meat. They over run the area where he lived so they encouraged hunting to keep the number in check. He's passed on now, not many like him today I don't believe. Yeah, I know, that was more information than you asked for. lol I will have to try rabbit again as an adult. When I do I'll give you the update.

Well... Honestly rabbit is just another meat. It's not OH MY GOODNESS SO INCREDIBLY GOOD! If you never taste it again, you're probably not missing out on anything.

But it's not terrible either. It's just another meat.

Yes, I suppose that's right. Back in the day with five kids to feed, grandpa had to use what could be found. I've had deer meat, I didn't think that tasted bad at all.

You must know somebody who can cook it right. Deer meat can be incredibly gamey if you don't cook it right.

Yes, I was surprised because I had had deer meat before and it was enough for me. But it was surprisingly good. I'm not a big fan of fish but I think a lot of that is because people don't know how to cook it properly. In fact a lot of restaurants don't know how to fix it properly.
