It's that time of year again. Time for everything to freeze, including us.

I have observed there are two kinds of people. Those who deal with cold by putting on more layers and those who deal with it by cranking the heat up.

So which are you?

Do you hibernate under a mound of blankets? Or do you crank up the heat and walk around in a T-shirt?

Either way, what are your extremes? If you're the kind to cover up, how low do you let it go before you finally turn on the heat? If you're the kind to crank it up, how high do you let it fly?

I've always preferred things a bit on the cooler side, so I am definitely not one who cranks up the heat. If it is about 60 degrees in a room, then, personally, I am fine. Of course, if others are present, then I need to consider their preferences as well.

When it is time for bed, I definitely grab a blanket while ignoring the thermostat. I sleep so much better in cooler temperatures, and I have a hard time sleeping in the Summer without air conditioning or a good fan.

Also, I prefer dressing in layers when I go out in the cold. Usually, a hoodie with a not-too-heavy jacket on top of it in case I begin to feel as if I am melting. I think that I might be part snowman, and I wish that this bunny rabbit would stop nibbling on my nose as I type.

I don't know. If you're a polar bear, then you're not crazy, but normal.

When it comes to bathing or showering, that is one of the few times when I prefer heat over cold.

I only take cold showers cause our water heater stopped working maybe like 4 months ago. i also read somewhere that cold showers and ice baths boost testosterone. Not like I need it, but it sure wakes me up.

I've had to take cold showers a few times in my life when the power has gone out and the hot water heater has stopped working. I have honestly felt like I was going to go into some sort of hypothermic shock during those times. I have since learned to wash my hair separately in the sink when I have no hot water at my disposal to maintain some body heat before stepping into the shower in order to cut down on the amount of time that my entire body needs to be subjected to the cold. I normally spend some time praying while taking a hot shower, but that goes out the window when I am freezing my butt off due to no hot water. During those times, my only hurried prayer is "Lord, get me out of here before I turn into a popsicle!" Yeah, a blue popsicle.

I get used to it fairly quickly. At first though, it is always a shock to my system. I live in Southern California, so the coldest it’s going to be here is like 40 degrees and I think last night, it was 50 something. Even though we don’t have a built in heater for the house, for some reason it stayed fairly warm inside. My family on the other hand, they boil water first before washing. I’m not even sure how they clean themselves with it. I don’t even ask. Boiling water seems like it would REALLY hurt!

I think we should be able to get a water heater soon. We just need the man power.
Once my sisters husband is available, him and I can install it. Just waiting on him. He agreed to it last weekend, so we’ll see.

To answer this question: Layers!

Usually a shirt, hoodie and jeans around this time of year, maybe even a beanie but I prefer no hat.

My mother says if your feet are cold, put on a hat. Something about the body prioritizes keeping the head warm, so if you put on a hat you will have more heat to send to your feet.

Interesting. I’ll have test mother Lynx’s advice.

It’s been getting colder lately and I don’t usually go anywhere, so maybe when I sit in the backyard next time. There has got to be a beanie around here somewhere!

More heat.
I keep the heat in the house around 78 degrees.

Green coffee beans contain Chlorogenic acid, broken up a tad and swallowed they will raise the metabolic rate, no need to turn up the thermostat.
Any place that has a coffee roaster will have green coffee beans and will be happy to grind up a few for you.

I totally forgot about that, after reading about in Tim Ferris’, The 4 Hour Body.

Also, another way of making sure your body stays nice and toasty, is by eating a ketogenic diet while also intermittent fasting. I did that for a year and I felt as warm as a flu all year, just melting fat away.

More layers. I get warm easily, so no turtlenecks for me. It can be time consuming to color coordinate the layers though.

This is a great question!

I'm cheap, so I'd rather opt to utilize the things I already have rather than pay for more heat. I also usually get warm easily, so that works in my favor.

Right now I have the temp at 60 degrees inside and am surviving just fine with 2 hoodies. At night I also sleep in 2 hoodies and then under 3 blankets. Sure, it's chilly at first, but I eventually turn into a warm and toasty burrito -- and that makes it hard to crawl out of bed in the cold, cold morning!

i used to bundle up to combat the cold. i finally learned to exercise my powers of the subconscious mind in this area. now, in the cold season, i wear a t-shirt & an insulated heavy duty sweatshirt to deal with the cold. & by course, it does the job.
