Yes, and we can put them together and see how those prophesies point to what the Lord would accomplish, however, at the time, those OT saints could not see the cross. If they could see the cross, why was no one looking forward to it in the day of Jesus? His own disciples had no understanding of the cross. God hid it from them.
It’s the person who suffered and died on the cross for the worlds sin that’s important.
The “ message of the cross “ doesn’t have alot to do with a cross but the suffering and death of Jesus as his blood ran down and his breath left his lungs. The cross just points us to Jesus suffering on our behalf like the prophets did beforhand
appx 700 bc before Jesus was born
“But
he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Isaiah 53:5-6 NIV
Appx 50-70 ad after he lives and died and rose and ascended to heavens throne now there’s more revelation they know who it’s talking about now , they saw his way of life and example for gods children they now have the rest of the mysteries the prophets introduce in thier visions and prophecies and psalms
“To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you,
leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. “
He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness;
“by his wounds you have been healed.” For “you were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”
1 Peter 2:21-25 NIV
the prophets had less o formation because ot hadn’t happened yet the name Jesus isn’t even mentioned in the ot but they wrote almost the whole gospel down from his miracle birth to his miraculous ministry and power to particular things that happened throughout to his suffering and death on the cross to his resurrection from the grave and ascention to the right hand of God in heaven it’s all foretold but hadn’t been fulfilled
what they
knew was Moses law a burning mountain a voice like a trumpet that terrified telling them “keep away from me lest I destroy you all “ pillars of smoke thunder and lightning ect
But now we know God in truth without the veil and blindness left by the law
“and not as
Moses, which put a vail over his face, that
the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: but
their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; ( they couldn’t see past what they knew Moses law ) which vail is done away in Christ. But
even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.”
2 Corinthians 3:13-15 KJV
It’s hard for israel to let go of the old covenant that made them seperate and special and chosen and see the new it was thier oroblem in the gospel it’s why they were always questioning Jesus according to Moses law and he would tell them other things and then they would accuse him
They missed the message of the prophets and Moses in the law that’s all about Jesus the son who would preach the words of Gods requirement , then suffer and die as an atonement for sin , then raise up from death and be seated at Gods right hand….. later to return from heaven at the end of the world
the prophets were always preaching that meaaage since the world began
“But
those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; and he shall send
Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things,
which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me;
him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
Yea, and
all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.”
Acts 3:18-24 KJV
foretelling is before fulfillment which brings revelation and more information and indersrsnding
