I would presume the fruit was a fig, since God clothed them shortly thereafter with fig leaves. They sowed Fig leaves for a covering. Yeah, I am going with a fig.

Yes! Scriptural reference please, our sweet sister in Christ, Lafftur started it that way and we would like to continue, please.

I bet you’re trying to answer a question from long ago concerning what was the fruit Eve and Adam ate… is this what your answer is for?

running into a wall about the Gopher wood!
Here is what I found-
Gopher wood is a term used only once in the Bible, specifically in Genesis 6:14, where God instructs Noah to build the Ark from "gopher wood". The Hebrew word "gopher" (גֹפֶר) is a hapax legomenon, meaning it appears nowhere else in the Hebrew Bible or related languages, making its exact identity unknown. The word is commonly transliterated as "gopher wood" in English translations, though some versions leave it untranslated or attempt a rendering based on ancient translations.
Various theories exist regarding its identity. The Greek Septuagint translates the phrase as "squared timber" (ἐκ ξύλων τετραγώνων), and the Latin Vulgate as "planed wood" (de lignis levigatis), suggesting a construction method rather than a specific tree species. Some scholars propose it refers to cypress wood, citing its durability and water resistance, and noting a phonetic similarity between the Greek word for cypress (κυπάρισσος) and the Hebrew "gopher". Others suggest it could be a type of resinous wood like pine, cedar, or fir, which would pair well with the use of pitch to waterproof the ark. A less common theory posits that "gopher" might be a scribal error for "kopher," the Hebrew word for "pitch," implying "pitched wood".
Alternative interpretations include the possibility that "gopher wood" refers to a now-extinct or unknown tree species, or even a construction technique such as lamination, which might have been necessary to build an ark of the ark's immense size. Some researchers connect the term to the modern Arabic word "kufa," referring to boats made of interwoven willow branches and palm leaves, coated with bitumen, used in Mesopotamia. The narrative of Noah's Ark, including the use of gopher wood, holds symbolic significance as a representation of divine provision, salvation, and faithfulness.
