I'm learning Pennsylvania German aka Pennsylvania Dutch. It's a German dialect spoken by the Amish.

Yes and I understand I was surprised myself when I heard it on a Las Vegas radio stations play list, its part of a dance song. I asked about and was told that what I thought it meant didn't translate the same way across the broader spectrum of Latinos that include Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Guatemalans and other Visitors & residents across the communities. When I was a teenager I didn't know that making love is often used as a euphemism for having sex. I thought it meant holding hands, kissing, going to movies or listening to romantic music together.Well I actually find that word vulgar -.- and can be disrespectful.
It is also used in intimate complimentary forms is some dialects.Well I actually find that word vulgar -.- and can be disrespectful.
I have found spelling in Spanish to be easier than English. I've found that if you pronounce the Spanish word correctly and know a few rules of Spanish spelling you can spell the word correctly. But English spelling is a mess because English has been influence by many other languages like French, Latin, Greek, Dutch, Norwegian, German etc., etc., etc..Taco, burrito.....I could at least eat....porfavor. Can't spell English words so no chance with Spanish....
That is so true! Either slow, or loud! That is so true.
My native language is not English, and some people, when they hear a hint of an accent when I’m saying something, they start speaking either very slowly or very loudly.

We were not allowed to talk about such things. A bar of soap in the mouth might be the result. In fact I saw it happen at after school Catechism when a kid asked a Nun what a Virgin was. My first sex education class was a WW2 vintage, US Navy, VD prevention film in, I'm pretty sure, the 10th grade. It was gross.
The point is that words and terms change context and definition amoung similar yet different cultures and as adults we must realize that in some places saying someone has heart means that they are loving and kind. But across town it means they are tough enough to take a beating and still fight back. Or generation to generation like when Gay meant happy and care free. or in my grand fathers generation a queer was a counterfeit bill. BTW; My dad was born in 1914.

I don't know who it was by. I was on a top 40's type hip-hop station on my daughters car radio. I preferer oldies & pre 80's (now) classic rock and folk like Peter, Paul & Mary & the New Seekers. I just was a passenger. Is the song you are referring to from Pitbull, if so, yep vulgar song. I met two ladies at an antique store and they talked about how the English language comes from other languages and not really of its own. I knew some English words derived from lets say Latin for medical terms but I didn't realize the entire vocabulary was fake haha. And yes Spanish is different across the Spanish countries.
I think sex education should first be at home, and because the culture now is more open, I think there should also be education outside the home to counter all the sexuality that is being propagated like normal and freely.

The anti-sexual revolution was very big in my home town (San Pedro) where birth control was considered a mortal sin in the 60's.
Latin and German (because of Luther) had a huge influence on the English language. The medical influence was Greek. Remember that most British schools were either Protestant or Catholic. Latin more-so because of the RCC mostly ruled in Europe and England belonged to the Roman Empire at one time. The English Mass was not approved till about 1960.
There were many protests and many churches switched to Spanish in California, (it was almost Latin) and the generation before me resisted the English mass because the Pope didn't speak English. Remember they still claim that Peter was the first Pope and only Catholics were real Christians. I simply denounced Catholicism and was ridiculed by other family members. Oh well!
