Just curious, how many people actually work for $7.25 per hour? I believe the average in Texas is over $25.
Wouldn't that be considered poverty level? I remember making $7 an hour around 1990. Minimum wage is $13.75 an hour where I live.

Yes indeed that is poverty level. Any business that pays such wadges should be boycotted.
Time for the people to rise up and force the state governments to change it or be voted out of office.
The people in my state made it a ballot issue to go to $11 per hour and it won.
There is already a movement to do it again to raise it to $15.

Hey that's a really really great question about how Texas actually works. And your correct that the average hourly wage is around 25.00 an hour but that's extremely misleading in Texas politics. I live in district 36 so I'll use it as an example. In District 36 a vast amount of it's population is in the Big Thicket Southeast Texas area with multiple small towns where every other person in them are stuck in 7.25 an hour jobs and are on SNAP. Brian Babin is the Representative from Woodville Texas. If you running for Texas politics you need to be able to say that in your district you have people making 25-35 dollar an hour jobs and it be true so how do you do it?
If you redraw the District Maps and stretch them from Toledo Bend up in the northern portion of East Texas and go all the way down to the Houston area at Green Tee Terrace in Pearland Texas and stretch the map out into Jefferson county in Beaumont Texas then stretch the map to include LaPorte,Seabrook,Nasau bay ect. then you have the places(cities) where people actually do make 25.00 an hour in your district. The reason why is like I said in the larger cities like Houston,Beaumont,Clear Lake,LaPorte ect. there are very high paying jobs. The reason why is that in Clear Lake is Nasa's Johnson Spacecraft center. Then in LaPorte you have the shipyards receiving container shipping and refineries and other plants included in District 36. Nothing ever changes in Texas but the maps though because from Toledo Bend in Texas to Green Tee Terrace is around 200 miles one way and a 3.5 hour drive. In the end the same people still live in poverty who always did but because they include sections of Houston,Beaumont, ect. where the higher wage jobs are into their districts they can now say with a straight face "I have very high wage jobs in my District". Here's the new map of District 36 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas's_36th_congressional_district

If you're going to vote only for Republicans who vote like Democrats, why not just vote for Democrats?

I cant see me or those in my family flipping and voting DEI blue, lol. It's like digging up potatoes and some of them have bad spots in them, you take a knife(vote) and cut the bad spots out till you have enough for supper.

What are a few things🌑if you don't mind saying, do you🌚not like about the ones currently in office?(y):coffee:(n)🙂

Both parties and the nation are at their end and about to perish, their plan is to let it run it's course and create a new one where they no longer need your votes. Health care and SNAP are just the beginning.

Are you trying to say you don't believe in speaking in tongues?
I speak English and a little Spanish and Italian.
I appreciate your response but you really didn't answer the question but nevermind since I'm off topic anyway and derailing the thread.:p:)

I wonder how many people on SNAP and not receiving assistance this month or still supporting Trump.

Well if they're honest they'll blame the democrats because the democrats are the ones who cancelled SNAP. Trump might actually get a little boost because he's trying to save SNAP.

I see where more states are not allowing snap benefits to be used for junk food.
When are they going to do the same for food stamps?
It burns me up every time I see a cart full of junk food, frozen meals, and no fresh fruit or vegetables that cost less, in the check out line.
Does something like that bother you more than the premiums of health care going sky high?
