Here is a clean understanding of the verse in Zechariah. Let the HOLY Spirit open your mind and heart and give you correct understanding. Do not continue in error:
This verse indicates a future time when the Jewish people will plead for the mercy of God. This will happen when they see “the one they have pierced.” Zechariah’s verse is mentioned in John 19:36-37when Jesus, hanging on the cross, was pierced with a spear: “These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: . . . ‘They will look on the one they have pierced.’” Revelation 1:7 adds, “Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him”—definitely an allusion to Zechariah 12:10. Isaiah 53:5 also predicts that the Messiah would be pierced: “But he was pierced for our transgressions.”
In addition to the idea of a “pierced” God is the concept of the “only child.” Zechariah’s mention of a “firstborn son” bears an unmistakable connection to Jesus as God’s Son. The Hebrew word bekor was translated in the Septuagint as prototokos, the same term used for Jesus in Colossians 1:15: “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn [prototokos] of all creation.” And, of course, there is John 3:16, which includes a reference to Jesus as God’s “one and only Son.”
This Messianic prophecy has not yet been completely fulfilled. Jesus has been “pierced,” but there will still be a future time when all of Jerusalem will see Him and mourn their ill treatment of Him. At that time, they will cry out to God for mercy, and He will answer them by saving them from their enemies: “On that day the LORD will shield those who live in Jerusalem. . . . I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem” (Zechariah 12:8-9). These events will occur at the end of the tribulation period at Christ’s second coming.
In summary, Zechariah 12:10 predicts the piercing of the Son of God, the Messiah, fulfilled at the first coming of Jesus Christ when He died on the cross and was pierced by a spear in His side (John 19:36–37). The complete fulfillment of this verse awaits the last days when the Jewish people will plead for mercy from the One they have pierced.
This is a spiritual truth and I doubt it will change the minds of the ones who think that the state of Israel is the one that God refers too as his.God hides these things and reveals it to those with eyes to see and ears to hear.It is like hidden treasure.

Just since the beginning in Genesis He calls them His. How'd you miss all those?

This statement is just nonsense. John said it was fulfilled, so it's presumptuous and foolish to disbelieve what he said in order to indulge in imaginary exegesis. It was completely fulfilled in regards to Israel.
However in Revelation John applies Zechariah's prophecy to the entire world, which awaits fulfillment. The verse in Revelation that mentions stabbing says nothing about Jerusalem, so it's a made-up fantasy that it pertains to there only. It says every eye on earth will see him and all peoples on earth will mourn. The one who stabbed Christ was a Roman, not a Jew, so the ones who stabbed Christ in Revelation either means all of humanity, or Christ's enemies who have continually persecuted and killed his people ("When you did it unto the least of my brethren, you did it unto me")
Behold, he comes with the clouds, and every eye will see him, and the ones which stabbed him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn over him. Yes, amen. Revelation 1:7
This is also described in Matthew. Why are they mourning? Because they know they are about to be on the receiving end of God's wrath.And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matthew 24:30

The Israel you're thinking about was a remnant set aside by God to fulfil his greater plan.To restore all things unto himself.
Even the land given to the Israelite's was a remnant of Gods original commandment to man,which was to replenish the earth and subdue it.The promise being mentioned in Galatians 3:28–29 is referring to the Holy Spirit because the Lord is our inheritance.Read what is says just before that.
Galatians 3:26-29
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith,for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
You know why?because we are a remnant of the earth who are in Christ.Even among the descendants of the Israelites in the OT only a remnant are,and will be in Christ.
God who so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Yet only a remnant will believe and have everlasting life, and heirs according to the promise.We receive the inheritance of the remnant/levites.
Now check this verse.It just hits different.

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
Amen.This is a huge revelation.The biggest I received since the lord revealed the Two Witnesses to me.
The Levites themselves were scattered across the whole land of Israel in the OT and the Israelites were prophesied to be scattered and regathered,so too are the remnant of his people into the land of their inheritance through the Holy Spirit.

The remnant was in the first century that is why Paul was writing about it to the Romans at that time.
God always has a remnant.many are called,few are chosen.If you have the Holy Spirit then you are a remnant.

The Israeli's God is defending in the documentary 'Against All Odds', He's protecting for a reason. 'His thoughts/ways are higher than ours', much much higher. The fact is simple, this is God's will and to deny it is totally futile and against God.
We see Israel differently.Even those who believe in a spiritual Israel might not see eye to eye to what I'm saying.Partly because I was never good at explaining things.And this is new to me as well so I'll probably gain a deeper understanding as time goes on.There's even more verses that can testify to this but I just assume others will connect the dots.
In a nutshell I'm saying that the heirs according to the promise is of the promise made to the Levite's and their inheritance was the Lord.
We received that inheritance through the Holy Spirit and were gathered back into the promise land.
