But the "tribes" listed in Revelation are not all sons of Jacob.
"And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed"
Joseph was Manasseh's father and Dan is not present. Doesn't that stick in your craw? Instead of using creative exegesis to excuse Dan's absence and Manasseh's addition, this should be a clue that
this is not natural Israel.
Paul wrote about the "one man in Christ" created by combining Jew and Gentile into One like this:
"Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision (Gentiles)
by what is called the Circumcision (Israel)
made in the flesh by hands— that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
For He Himself is our peace (Paul, a Jew, is saying that Christ is his peace), who has made both one (both = Jew and Gentile), and has broken down the middle wall of separation, (This is a temple reference: there is nothing that separates the Jews and the Gentiles any longer) 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, (Both Jew and Gentile, in Christ, are one new man) thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, (The way of reconciling both Jew and Gentile is the same: through the cross) thereby putting to death the enmity.(The cross puts to death the enmity, the opposition, because neither Jew or Gentile are regarded as Jew or Gentile in Christ) 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father (Access to the Father is by one Spirit, not in any other way).
So even in this passage,
the promises aren't attached to natural flesh. They are the
inheritance of children "by one Spirit".
Also, when a new man is created, the old is no longer present. Of course,
this must be taken spiritually because you cannot create a new man from the two physically... you would kill both natural men in the process. This is a spiritual transaction completed in Christ.
The explanation is apparent. I outlined it here:
