It really is pernicious. A Scoffield bible was my first bible that I spent years reading. I was so confused about so many things that took years to unlearn. In retrospect I realize it was because it is imbued with unbelief. Scripture is ignored to project everything into the future. The bible makes so much sense now by simply believing what is written.

The church is weak because it has failed to be the church. Darby and Scofield have nothing to do with it. There are way too many cultural Christians and not enough who are for real. That does not apply to the persecuted church. Statistically, about 4% of churchgoers in the West are born again. Leaders value numerical growth rather than spiritual growth. That is a large part of the problem.
