The Netherlands is a socialist country, but it also has a free market economy. Socialism, or socialist segments of the economy, must exist on a sound foundation of capitalism, which The Netherlands has.*

this is true but the Netherlands is a very secular place not big on morals or God from what I have seen. which very typical with socialist countries now they maynot be killing and controlling people through force but they are not seeking God and their provider either or Nether :)

This is the whole problem with the discussion about "socialism": it is so difficult to define. If I point to a Socialist country like Cuba that is falling into decay socialists say "that's not socialism". Then they will hold up a country like the Netherlands and say this is a shining example of Socialism, but at the end of the day the Netherlands is a country with socialist elements, but it's not fully socialist.
And it would collapse if its economy was not tied to ours ...OUR economy upholds all these houses of cards

Ah just wait and see 'til revival is in the land.

By the way, I have a question:

- Should we pay taxes only of the income of our work or from all our sources of income? Is the Bible clear about this?

youre talking about corporate capitalism. Where the few wrest control of the money to stack the deck against the many. They control the banks, they set monetary policy. The federal reserve is a private company that controls our monetary policy and it needs to be kicked to the curb and the congress needs to do its job as outlined in the constitution.

but wouldnt corporate capitalism just be the agenda/end result of capitalism?

Yes, in a fallen world of sinners who have become as lulled into uncaring submission as our generation is, it is the end result. But at least it begins with hopeful potential. Socialism begins bad and ends worse.

Just watch the season finale ending of The walking dead and you'll see exactly where socialism leads.

How can a Christian who claims to trust God..want a big brother government?

No one controls me..except God...that's the difference

i wish i had that kind of freedom. where i live (right across the river from you) i see nothing but laws, laws and more laws. i am forced against my will to buy insurance, give personal info to the government when applying for a job in the private sector, heck you cant even hand out bibles in public schools. if you want to hand out a bible in a public school you have to go someplace where that sort of thing is not against the law, like Russia.

Sounds like you are limited by your faith..not the government. And I was making a point about your statement that capitalism in our republic enslaves folks like socialism ...Its socialism that you are addressing here .. If you feel enslaved to someone? or some system..its because you have allowed it.

no its capitalism i am referring to. all those lost freedoms i mentioned are lost because of capitalism.

when insurance companies influence the government to pass laws that force the masses against their will to buy insurance, this is capitalism in action.

I agree it may be a hard thing to do, but that would be government´s task.

Our government has some practice with this, and not very good at it. The more people a gov has to screen for these (we have the baby boomers aging, which is quite a number of people), the more inefficient it is at doing so.

I am on the fence about assistance. I think some form of assistance should be available for those in need, bar none, but the gov here makes it so easy to get assistance, that they have more apps to go through, which bogs down and slows the process of getting assistance. And then, many can't get disability assistance or other assistances no matter how hard they try, needing it.

I could go on and on about this, but our system is broken in terms of fairness and availability.

You are describing socialism and trying to call it capitalism ...laws and regulations that hinder freedoms are socialism

I´ve been thinking about this subject very much. From what I´ve seen, there are different opinions about it. Some state the Socialism is biblical, other that only Capitalism is shown in the Bible. Others, say that Acts 2:44-46 supports Communism. Personally I tend to agree that Socialism is wrong and not biblical, and least of all Communism.

What´s your opinion? Do you think Socialism/Communism is biblical and/or pleases God?

God bless you!

What's Biblical about abusively taking people's hard earned money?

What's Biblical about being a parasitic scumbag on the government dole?

What's Biblical about instituting government programs aimed at oppressing everyone except the manipulating puppet masters who initiate said programs?

Socialism Biblical? Get real!

I'm not yelling at you, J4E, I'm just passionate about this subject.

no, the source of the corruption is not social programs in the government, the source is businesses from the free market private sector.

i love you mitz and we can agree to disagree. i dont want socialism. but the point i was making is capitalism or socialism in their purest forms are no better than the other. they are both corrupt, benefit the few at the expense of the many.

so system is working unless manis working them. Socialism is just a word until you put action behind it. and that is what we judge
