Is Socialism biblical?

It´s possible, but maybe that´s a family with very bad wages (that are countries where people are almost enslaved). That is another matter. And in many countries people starve to death and are murdered. Take North Korea, for example: recently, this country leader "asked" people to starve, "if necessary". And why? Because it´s preferable to invest on nuclear weapons. Yeah, I´m pretty sure people may starve, but won´t stop working. More, it´s seems that in it´s being demanded that people, in Pyongyang, give 2 pounds of rice every month, to state warehouses. That´s their socialism/communism way of treating population...! How´s that for freedom?

Apart from that, I can only speak for my country: that are some people having difficulties to feed their kids, that´s a fact. Why? Because Portugal has bad politicians and the social state bankrupt for 3 times, since 1974...! Yeah, it was needed to cut wages, raise taxes, etc, and many people had (and are having) a hard time. And to what? To sustain a huge government, that for 3 times in 42 years, blew up because it´s not sustainable.

Here:
- people are used to reject jobs, even if they are under unemployment benefits...!
- we have people receiving social benefits, even if they aren´t working and are out of unemployment benefits.
- some ethnic groups are giving houses freely, or pay rents about just $5 a month, because someone think they are poor, or because they are a menace to society.
- people are forced to pay for others retirement, even not knowing if they will have their own (which, by the way, is most certain);


I can´t see how this kind of economic/political system may please God...

Don't try to use logic or reason within what is evident ... folks who cling to socialism don't look at the reality of its failures or the destruction it causes to every nation...they have a fairytale idea in their minds and "pretend' socialism works ...

I see. Believe me, it´s hard not to defend Socialism here, and agree with Right political ideology in Portugal. Many people see the Right as being dictatorial, heartless, greedy, vile...!

Still, I do believe government should help only those who really need, as a last resort. I also think no one should be denied medical assistance just by lack of money, but again, just for those who really need.

I would think it is safe to say in ref to the question "Is Socialism biblical?" the answer is no . I think the reason is as it was stated before , that which was created by those who hate God can not produce anything that is good for man. Socialism origin and close relatives are marxist, Fascist, communism and atheism which none of them are in line with the word of God they are shown in scriptures but as a warning of what not to do.

Constitutional freedom is what the "right" represents here... we don't want the governments health care..we want freedom to pay for our own and only a capitalist country can do that. All these socialist countries depend on our capitalist economy ..if its ever taken over by the socialist...all nations will suffer.

Exodus 22:25

"If you lend money to My people, to the poor among you, you are not to act as a creditor to him; you shall not charge him interest.

I think that's the idea. To wipe out the last bastion of freedom so that worldwide socialism can be instituted under one roof. The bleeding hearts in our country aren't gonna like it so well when their decisions are made for them from far away. Socialism is s runaway freight train.

Determining those "in need" is very tricky, esp where mental illness and other disabilities are concerned. People can APPEAR able but are really UNABLE.

youre talking about corporate capitalism. Where the few wrest control of the money to stack the deck against the many. They control the banks, they set monetary policy. The federal reserve is a private company that controls our monetary policy and it needs to be kicked to the curb and the congress needs to do its job as outlined in the constitution.

My taxes this year were so frustrating/irritating because of rationcare/obamadoesntcare!

Aside from line 38, everything went rather smooth.

The only way any of these countries maintain a economy is because in some way its tied to our free-market system ...the socialist countries in Europe would collapse in a day if not for America
 
Didn't read that whole article, but those countries aren't socialist. They implement some "socialist" policies like social welfare, but they are nowhere near being fully socialist. I live in Ireland, and it definitely shouldn't be on that list.
Most modern governments have some elements that could be called socialist, but a Socialist country is one that is run by an entirely socialist government.

I see your point, but do you agree that people who really can´t pay for health (only real serious cases) should be denied medical assistance?

I agree it may be a hard thing to do, but that would be government´s task.
 
This is the whole problem with the discussion about "socialism": it is so difficult to define. If I point to a Socialist country like Cuba that is falling into decay socialists say "that's not socialism". Then they will hold up a country like the Netherlands and say this is a shining example of Socialism, but at the end of the day the Netherlands is a country with socialist elements, but it's not fully socialist.

No but that don't require a federal system of control ... it could be done on a local level and be controlled by the people who actually pay for these kinds of services ...and at some point ..we have to limit what we can do for others ..based on what money we have ... No one has the right to spend money they don't have ...no matter how worthy the cause.
