Yeah try reading from Roman’s 6 - 8 though your reading just the problem and no part of the solution
chapter 6 before Paul’s explaining the issue
“God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:2-7, 11 KJV
a lot of times people wuote parts of chaoter 7 insisting this is just how it is but Paul’s point is that leads to death
lets read some more of 6
“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.”
Romans 6:12-17
That way when we get to chapter 7 we won’t think Paul’s saying “ we’re not capable “ he’s already explained we’ve been made able and new through baptism into Christ ….or let’s read some of 8 after Paul tells us the issue
“O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”
Romans 7:24 KJV
that’s what he’s describing in chapter seven then back to the solution he began discussing in chapter 6
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
….Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die:
but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.”
Romans 8:1, 12-13 KJV
The thing is as long as we believe we can’t live right and overcome we won’t be able to . Faith works that way that’s why the scripture seeks to change our minds about sin because we can’t be saved while serving the devils Will which is sin
