Bad habits are secondary to faith. the issue is when anything becomes more important than God.
For example Charles Spurgeon, a great preacher, was an avid cigar smoker Similarly, D. L. Moody struggled with gluttony, but these personal flaws were overlooked because their devotion to God was first. Smoking has been shown to relieve anxiety in some illnesses while The Bible warns of the dangers of excessive alcohol use. There are also Christians who experience same-sex attraction but choose to live celibate lives for the Lord.

The doctrine of “Once Saved, Always Saved” (OSAS) is highly debated 2 Peter 2:20-22 1 John 2:19

Remember, God does not judge us by comparing us to the saints but by the times in which we live (Genesis 6:8). having faults just means you have to lean more on God. if you keep your focus on Him it is for the better not the worse God helps us.

is it ok to believe. once saved always saved?

Well, I was taught to believe OSAS growing up as a Southern Baptist, but when I read the Bible I discovered
that it taught otherwise per the following:

MT 10:22, “All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

RM 11:22, “Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off.”

1CR 15:2, “By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.”

GL 5:4, “You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.”

CL 1:22-23, “But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel.”

2THS 1:4-5, “Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring. All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.”

2TM 2:12, “If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we disown him, he will also disown us;”

HB 3:6&14, “But Christ is faithful as a son over God’s house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast… We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.”

HB 6:4-6, “It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.” This passage indicates that apostasy may be viewed as total depravity or blasphemy against the HS (MT 12:31).

HB 10:26-36, “If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God… So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”

JM 1:12, “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”

2PT 1:10-11, “Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

2PT 2:20, “If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.”

1JN 2:24-25, “See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is what he promised us—even eternal life.”

JUDE 21, “Keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.”

RV 2:10, “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

I still keep sinning and sinning. repented. BUT I still smoke and drink.

By God only and each person knows and learns and does willing with Daddy, not people necessarily over God at all. To me at least

Romans 8:15-16

Authorized (King James) Version

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

If this be in you and you have agreed with Father to not harm others, then I bet you well in your soul between God and you, if not ask Daddy, directly from within you

Nobody is perfect and without sin of some sort so we need to repent. Since sin separates us from God, we need to find our way back…..

Smallville is a troll wasting the time of His Own while others who are ready to receive salvation are drowning.:):coffee:(y)

When I read the OP, my first thought was 'he's gay.'
Agreed, definitely confused, way too confused for a sound mind.
Catholic too, in a religion without required relationship, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Is it ok to be once saved always saved.

It's certainly better than the 'ol "Holiness one strike and you're out" theology.

Becoming conformed to the image of Jesus (Romans 8:29) is a life-long process. NOBODY lives a PERFECT LIFE. However, if you're being convicted of your SIN, and repenting of it as best as you can, then the Holy SPirit is continuing to "Work on you" to accomplish HIS WILL.

Although I also thought to reply, he's been banned and so cannot reply. It doesn't seem that he was here to discuss much anyway as he lost patience quickly in his eagerness to declare his commitment to homosexuality.

God is very patient with us. It's not healthy to always be fearful that He's going to turn His back on us. However, OSAS is a particularly dangerous teaching. It gives people the idea they can keep sinning willfully and everything will be cool. If you've had a bad past or a lot of trauma, it can be a long road getting to where you'd like to be with the Lord; but never give up and don't take the easy path of OSAS. God won't give up on you if you're sincere and have faith in Him.

OSAS is down right heresy; it’s NOT Scriptural!

We must take all things to Him for His confirmation, leaning on our own understanding is where much of "theology" originates.
We must be in relationship, not an outward form of godliness denying the power.

Chuckle!!! Fortunately the whole issue is nothing but "Theology" - man's attempt to make the Bible say whatever the paradigms of the specific religious group want it to say.

Heresy! You speak like someone of the world, philosophical views, and not a follower of Christ who knows Scripture.
