Dancing is a wonderful thing, it is my passion and I could not live without it. I dance to release all of my emotions that I sometimes struggle with, and I dance because it saves me and keeps me grounded. Dancing is not sinful unless you make it. Obviously, twerking is not something you should be doing and provocative/dirty dancing or sexual moves clearly should be avoided. I'm a street dancer and a lot of the music I listen to is hip hop and dubstep, which can sometimes be questionable. But I make sure I balance out that music with Christian hip hop as well to filter out the bad stuff. Don't ever let anyone tell you dancing is sinful because its not. Dancing in itself is a beautiful thing; a release and expression of emotions through bodily movements and actions. So keep dancing and don't ever think that you are sinning when you do so! After dancing, WHAT'S THE FRUIIT OF IT? ? Do you stop hurting, lying or cheating? If dancing convert any people, more than billions would be committed Christians. Don't you see it?
If you go to the church and dance "like david danced"... How many people convert and turned away fron their sins?
That helps to get lust if you look at girl/boys (that depends on your sex), but I don't think real Christians would "worship" God with erotic salsa, but our eyes can see -at a sared sight- women have some "things" men doesn't have and, at that point, sin begins... I dance alone. I move my feet at the metro stations, and I like it my own.

Everything we do, we should do unto the Lord,Amen.God is always fair because looks at our hearts attitude,and your body is the temple of God.So if in your heart u r truly dancing to worship 2 the Lord and leed others 2 Christ,amen.If not and we all no what is right and wrong.Also I would suggest where u dance also r u worshiping through dance in a holy place or r u in the local night club,maybe bar room.Always use wisdom be Holy Spirit guided because u r representing the Most High God and your true relationship with him,dont give others a chance 2 think other things.hopefully that helped u.Be at peace and joy fill u 2 over flowing GBU John

Hundreds of years ago, Christian leaders saw that dancing was associated with immorality, whether it was folk dancing or performance dancing. So they concluded that dancing was sinful and told their churches not to dance.
The people behind this view were sincere and well-meaning - they wanted Christians to live holy lives - but they made a big mistake. They based their view on the worst that the world has to offer, rather than the Bible.
However, the belief that dancing is sinful became part of the Christian culture, one of the things that define Christians. Whilst it's far less common today, there are still plenty of people who feel this way. And if it's something your parents believed, and you've been taught it from childhood and in your church, it will be a belief that you hold strongly, without necessarily understanding why you believe it.
Yes, there are questionable forms of dance that I do think Christians should avoid. But rather than focus on condemning them, I want to say that there are many styles of dancing that are not all about sex and lust. Let's light a candle, not curse the darkness.
Ultimately, the Bible is our authority, and I'd always encourage people to study what it says about dance. I believe it is clear - God's people are to be a dancing people, dancing for joy and in worship.

With respect, if the school is so busy worrying about what your legs are doing, hearts are probably being ignored. Nine times out of ten, when I hear these sorts of debates, they're just convenient ways to deal with the heavy stuff. They're shields - as long as I'm not doing X, whatever X is, surely I'm on the right path, right?
Jesus, if I remember, did not go around telling people to make checklists of sins. He had words for people who regulated their external behaviors so beautifully but were neglecting their inner health.
It hurts my hear that you're already thinking of people in terms of conservative and liberal.

In my opinion, dancing is not a sin, as long as you have the right intention. For example, I dance because it's a talent that God gave me and it has given me opprotunities to show others His love. On the other hand, I believe that it is innapropriate to "dirty" dance because it implies that you have intention of doing innapropriate acts with other people, and that you don't have respect for yourself.
This is a debate that goes on in my school all the time. I go to a private Christian school where some kids are very conservative, some aren't even Christian (only a few people are like this), and some are a little more liberal. Anyways, some people think that dancing is a sin because it creates lust. Others think dancing can be a way to worship God. I personally am undecided. I agree, dancing can create lust. But if you do APPROPRIATE dance moves, you're showcasing the talent God gave you. Ugh, I can't make up my mind.

I got kicked out of a private christian school when they found out I went out dancing at a teen club.
Anyway, nothing wrong with Dancing (moving your body to music), but just like most things it can be used in a good way or a "sinful" way.

in and of itself, no, dancing isn't sinful.. the manner in which you dance is.. if you're dirty dancing or bump-n-grinding on someone, then that's an inappropriate way to dance..

remember the world you live on and in. dancing is almost always sinful. so is most other activity on earth.(read revelation if God permits).
trust God through grace and faith in Jesus, to watch and keep and guard you and your life and your family.
don't trust man or men or man's teachings. stay uncompromising faithful in God's Word and Life as He permits.
