If the earth were flat we would not be having this discussion. Somebody could fly out and video the edge in, like, half a day. And if there was a dome over the whole thing, we could fly a drone into it and at least have the fun of wrecking something in the name of science. BOOM!

That's the biggest objection I have to flat earth theory. It would be so easy to conclusively prove by just flying out to the edge. Do you know how fast jets fly these days? Do you know their range these days? It's insane!
Fly something out to the edge, with a camera, and let's prove this once and for all. That's all I want from the FE community.

Read about Jarle Andh0y. They made his life a living hell because he wouldn't get a permit to explore Antarctica. You can be fairly sure if he had tried, he would have been limited to where he could go, if permitted at all. His ship was sunk under mysterious circumstances. Why would 50+ countries, who can't agree on anything so much that many are often at war with each other, all agree on this issue?

The issue of exploring Antarctica is that few people have the explorer personality (just look at history). Of those that do, even fewer have the skills, health and wit (and luck/blessing) to survive. The whole licensing-to-explore thing pretty much lets the governments say to the very, very few who would explore Antarctica "No", or allows the licence conditions to permit only parts of Antarctica to be explored (which obviously wouldn't assist in proving the shape of the Earth).
