I'm thankful to say that I've rarely been lonely in my life, though I'm often alone. Of course, having the internet helps. I don't do a lot of socializing even on the internet. Most of my virtual socializing is here and keeping in touch with my two closest loved ones, but it makes a big difference.

It could be that growing up as an only child roaming around in the country made it easier for me to be alone. I've found that, personally speaking, being solitary is appealing. I kinda live like Grizzly Adams (except I have internet) and for me that's addictive.

But, I'm going out of state next month to stay for a while with one of my 2 closest loved ones. I haven't been out of town in over 2 years. It might be good for me to not be such a hermit for a while

That is good to hear, I don't know I think the internet is what is driving people to isolation, all the time you spend on here your not connecting with anyone close to you, where you live. I have been on the internet since I was 13, personally I am sick of the internet and computers.

Ahhh, that could be true, I have 2 younger brothers, plus extended siblings from both parents other relationships. I have been called Grizzley Adams, especially when I wear flannel with the beard and mustache, I also attend a college where the schools official mascot is the Grizzley.

I see, so was actually, I started withdrawing because I didn't like the people in my life growing up.
First it was the kids who picked on me and teased me in school, and teachers who didn't do anything about it and parents who never seemed to want to spend any time with me unless I was getting into trouble. This is why I hate secularism.

Yes I did. I guess all I need now is a tool man with his own tv show.

well I don't do the Santa Clause thing, I don't believe it is right to lie. Actually if you move the N to the end of Santa,
it become Satan.
No parent should lie to their kids about the existence of Santa, it's why I lost all respect for my parents years ago.
In fact it's like giving them a false god and then making a fool out of them telling them the god they love doesn't exist.
Jesus is the true Father of Christmas, in fact with out Jesus St Nicolas the Bishop never could have become a saint with out the existence of Christ.

sometime ago I break my leg,I needed surgery, thieves stole from my shop reducing it to nothing, my company was at a start up phase but it was doing so well but I lose all the contracts at that time. I was not walking, I could not go about so my landlord threw me out because she was not patient to wait for me to go to the bank and collect money. so I paid for a new house and the land lord collected money from me and another person. that person was faster to go so I did not have the house. but he would not refund. I was penniless on a crutch with no hope.
But it's History now. I never became that rich lady again and I still carry debts from that time but it's History.

I am sorry to hear that, how did you break your leg? that sucks, I hate thieves, it is the reason we need to bring back capitol punishment.
That really sucks, we are fortunate to have laws and regulations to protect from unmerited evictions.

The truth is I’m actually shy and quiet, especially in person until I open up. I can hold a conversation with strangers who give me material to work with, but I usually just keep to myself. Being so passive is a double-edged sword. But looking at my history, anyone I’ve asked has never gone further than the first date. But those who approach me—Lasts months or even a year or two so far. With me, someone who shows interest is appreciated and even rewarded. The only thing that matters is how well we get along. The only reason why I would say no is if I’m dating someone already.

I wasn't going to answer this thread because I'm very private and don't like to talk about my personal life, and why would anyone care anyway, right? But the truth is, I'm not a donut. Although I may be shaped like one.

Ok now that that's out of the way, I am single and not searching. And time is not on my side. And right now I don't have the time, the energy or the inclination to think about finding someone. I'm not against it. All my life I always wanted to get married and have a family. Now I'm officially becoming a senior citizen and well life has a way of making other plans. I'm not complaining. It's just my views have changed and a relationship just isn't on my bucket list anymore. To those who are searching, I hope you find love. And to those who aren't searching, I hope you find peace and joy.
