Thats not correct we are commanded to obey the 613 commandments. Jesus didnt come abolish Torah he came to fulfill. There is a prophecy in Ezekiel sayingWell Thanksgiving can stay on the list, the bible says to be thankful in all things for this is the will of God.... Just because the date is pagan in origin doesn't mean you can't give thanks to the true God and Creator of Heaven and earth.
Yes I have heard the Christmas date was chosen by the Catholic Church to replace a pagan holiday, but you get a day off, every thing is closed, why not celebrate the birth of Christ with friends and family, Bible says Eph 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Or Col 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Use it as a witnessing tool, and celebrate a day off work.
