FYI I never said that at all " I do not continuously strive to not Sin" You were not trying to do so. And I would also ask if you read the c the scriptures and what I suggested to the person on this thread. I am not looking to get into titles or doctrines of the Holiness movement, thank you very much. Nor am I a proponent of Sinless perfection. Your post here has nothing to do with what I have said.I never said, I do not continuously strive to not Sin. I have been discussing Bible with people called Holiness Pentecostal. Basically, one can be sinless. So, today, ironically enough, because finding this Thread. But, i did wake up putting the i can go sinless for a day to the test. and like God wanted to show me it's not what i am able to do, and BOOM, a series of painful barefoot events took place and in the midst of throbbing pain and bloody toe nail, i wasn't so happy and tickled pink like a balloon sailing peacefully in the sky. nope, i was irate at my dog for placing that bone where i could only ever find it was by stepping onto it barefoot. and having the toes split apart where the corner of 2 walls connect was very pleasant to experience.
if you were able to do it and end up smiling and whistling, i'd call you a robot. no one is expecting that level of pain, and then it increases for both feet at the toes and it just automatically causes one to burst out singing,

Does anyone have any scriptures that will help this individual (or any individual faced with temptation) to battle their temptation(s)?
even though it doesn't say salvation or hell? the description after says received a blessing, and the other is close to being cursed, in other words not actually cursed. Also the author did just say previously we weren't going to build the foundation again, he's essentially saying that's not the way it works, it's shameful and a waste. You do realize that Hebrews 10:26 is not the entirety of the Hebrew letter, right? Read the whole thing! And read all of 10 not just verse 26 as though it were a stand alone.
Hebrews 6:5-6
"4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame."
So, if a person once enlightened as they were (they were newly converted Christians), were to fall away, and the text says it's impossible to renew them again unto repentance, what does that mean? If one were to renounce Christ as they were being cautioned not to do as it would again crucify Christ openly, and thereby could not be renewed unto repentance, they obviously being in that state would no longer be saved but lost! That means losing salvation they once had.
Not sinning requires spiritual intervention. The 10 Commandments given to Moses explains how man can become sinless.
Without this repentance there is no salvation.
God changes the state of the person He chooses so that the person turns to Him for forgiveness.
Baptism in the name of the Father occurs when He grants the repentance necessary that leads to salvation. Baptism in the name of the Son occurs when the person puts his trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins. Baptism in the name of the Holy Spirit occurs when the person receives the Holy Spirit of the Father through belief in Jesus Christ in order to be perfected
It is extreme to renounce Christ. If a Christian were to do so and become a Muslim, what would his fate be? Would he still be saved by the one who he renounced and put to an open shame again? The Hebrews were newly converted Christians who obviously had a problem of possibly reverting back to their old beliefs. This was the situation then, with some of them. But it has applicability to us today such as I've mentioned: a Christian denying Christ and becoming a Muslim for instance.even though it doesn't say salvation or hell? the description after says received a blessing, and the other is close to being cursed, in other words not actually cursed. Also the author did just say previously we weren't going to build the foundation again, he's essentially saying that's not the way it works, it's shameful and a waste.
Plus we have to account for other passages in the bible like the end of james about leading a brother back, and malachai and others with verses like if you return to me I return to you.
Could it refer to extreme cases of people renouncing christ? perhaps, But I think it would have to be a final rejection, not something one could easily do, we all face a judgment saved or not, 1 corinthians 3:13, as for the end results, it will vary no doubt.
yes that's kind of my view on the matter as well, then there's the whole philosophical matter of whether they were saved to begin with, but thats another discussion, There a verse I remeber hearing but have no idea where in the old testament, something about a lamp while it is still burning, the speaker i heard using it was making a reference that it's probably not finalized until we die, I should ask and see if anyone on here know what verse he may have been talking. It is extreme to renounce Christ. I'm not sure if George71 is still on CC, but in case there are others with the same dilemma, I would like to give my understanding of the problem. Man is incapable of not sinning because the motivation for living is self. Not sinning requires spiritual intervention. The 10 Commandments given to Moses explains how man can become sinless. It describes how man should behave in his relationship to God and to his fellow man. Man fails because of his motivation. Christ sitting on the right hand of the Father means that everything that the Father wants is done by the Father through Christ. That is why the God active in the Old Testament is Christ ( who is filled with the Father's Spirit from whom communication, direction, and power is given). Jesus said that no one comes to the Father but through Him.
That includes those in the Old Testament who believed God when He communicated with them through His Spirit and dreams. What they believed was in the coming Savior.
When Jesus came on the scene, He explained that He came down from Heaven to call sinners to repentance. The first Christians were Jews who obeyed Jewish customs. After Jesus ascended back into Heaven, these Christian Jews noticed that Gentiles were receiving the Holy Spirit and they make the statement that to the Gentiles also repentance that leads to salvation is granted by God. Without this repentance there is no salvation. Concerning election, if God is the one that grants the degree of repentance necessary, here are things to consider: Does God choose or do people choose. Repentance is a state of being. Once God grants repentance, you are in that state of being. It is not a gift that one can refuse. He does not put someone on a choke hold and says " Say you're sorry". God changes the state of the person He chooses so that the person turns to Him for forgiveness. Obviously, the person feels like it is he that is making the decisions, but his decision is based on how he feels about his sin. Through preaching, salvation through Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins is presented to him. When he puts his trust on Christ's death for the forgiveness of sins, his sins are erased.
But he is still a sinner. God remedies this problem by filling the person with His Holy Spirit through belief in His Son. It is the Holy Spirit of the Father which was given to His Son when Jesus went back to Heaven to get glorified. Both the Father and Son abide in Spirit in the heart of the new convert so that the person becomes part of the Spiritual body of Christ, and as a member of Christ's body, become one with Him and the Father and also share in the same love that they share. When we are born again, our motivation for living changes from love of Self to love of God first and love for everyone else second. When all our thoughts and actions are motivated by this divine love we will be obeying the Spirit of the Law and will be perfected and presentable to the Father. God judges the heart of man.
Baptism in the name of the Father occurs when He grants the repentance necessary that leads to salvation. Baptism in the name of the Son occurs when the person puts his trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of sins. Baptism in the name of the Holy Spirit occurs when the person receives the Holy Spirit of the Father through belief in Jesus Christ in order to be perfected. All three have a part in our salvation. It is they who do the baptizing, not man.
YES!You ask: Does God choose or do people choose? Perhaps its both. God knows the full course of history and every choice that will ever be made by everyone. including Himself (God knows who He has chosen and has provided the Ransom). I note that you acknowledge that the person is also making a choice, albeit based on how he or she feels about their sin. So you agree that as far as the person is concerned they are making a choice.

Must we endure/persevere unto the end, "not finalized until we die"? That may be madesomething about a lamp while it is still burning, the speaker i heard using it was making a reference that it's probably not finalized until we die,
YES!
I'm so happy that there finally is someone on CC that understands. Some CC members are so quick to label people as Calvinists without full understanding.
I'm glad your happy as long as you agree that making a decision for Christ is essential to individual salvation.
The scripture (rev 2) says we must be faithful unto death to receive a crown of life.Must we endure/persevere unto the end, "not finalized until we die"? That may be made
to fit into the OT, under prophecy/covenants, and the law. However, If we:

everyone is condemned already Jesus said John 3:17-19.

The scripture (rev 2) says we must be faithful unto death to receive a crown of life.
Not sure what your point is. Please clarify the point you're trying to make.[1Pe 1:5 KJV] 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
