The book of Hebrews, though addressed specifically to the Hebrews, is valid to whole body of Christ. Why argue that Gods grace to the Hebrews would be different than to the rest of the body of Christ?who's hebrews written to ?

If a letter is written to the president it could contain information that generally applies to others but its still written to the president. The book of Hebrews, though addressed specifically to the Hebrews, is valid to whole body of Christ. So are you arguing that the Grace of God which affects the illumination of the Hebrews through the Holy Spirit, does not apply to the rest of Gods body, and therefore, Gods grace which does illumine the Hebrews through the Holy Spirit, does not illumine the rest of Christs body through the Holy Spirit? If a letter is written to the president it could contain information that generally applies to others but its still written to the president.
It is not an assumption when none are worthy...I do understand that salvation through grace is not of works, but to assume grace means unmerited favor does not appear in the Word.
What you are doing Magenta is basically calling Gods grace, favor. We still need a greater definition of what Gods grace is and does, which I have supplied through scriptures. Gods grace/favor is our illumination through His Holy Spirit to make us spiritually wise and prudent in the truth of God, whereby we are saved through believing (having faith) in the truth from the Holy Spirit. It is not an assumption when none are worthy...
And that is definitely in the Bible![]()
I agree with you Mailmandan, that we do not merit through any work we may do, the Lord's salvation through His grace upon us. I'm just correlating scriptures to get a better perspective of what the Lord's grace which saves us through belief in Christ's gospel of truth represents. We know that Jesus informed His disciples that when He left, He would send them the Holy Spirit through which they would be illumined in all truth. We then have other scriptures in the Book of Hebrews and Ephesians, and other books where we see that Gods grace illumines and makes prudent those who believe. When I then put these scriptures together which produce the same outcome, I then recognize the illumination of Spiritual truth the Holy Spirit provides, representing Gods grace upon the faithful.Grace is God's unmerited favor in which He shows us mercy, kindness, and patience instead of the judgment that we deserve for sinning against Him. God's grace cannot be earned by our actions/performance/works. Grace is based on the character of God and not on our sincerity, performance, or ability to keep the law. Otherwise, grace would not be grace.
Romans 11:6, "But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace."
Galatians 2:21, "I do not nullify the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly."
2 Timothy 1:9, "who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity."
God's grace (enabling power) operates sovereignly in the lives of believers.
1 Corinthians 15:10 - But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.
2 Corinthians 1:12 - For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you.
2 Corinthians 12:9 - And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
Psalm 106:4-8 Remember me, O LORD, in Your favor to Your people; visit me with Your salvation, that I may see the prosperity of Your chosen ones, and rejoice in the gladness of Your nation, and give glory with Your inheritance. We have sinned like our fathers; we have done wrong and acted wickedly. Our fathers in Egypt did not grasp Your wonders or remember Your abundant kindness; but they rebelled by the sea, there at the Red Sea. Yet He saved them for the sake of His name, to make His power known. What you are doing Magenta is basically calling Gods grace, favor. You make my point by quoting Psalm 106:8 where the Lord saves the Exodus from Egypt for His name sake, when we see later that because the Exodus did not believe in the truth from the Holy Spirit, none of the faithless made it.Psalm 106:4-8 Remember me, O LORD, in Your favor to Your people; visit me with Your salvation, that I may see the prosperity of Your chosen ones, and rejoice in the gladness of Your nation, and give glory with Your inheritance. Psalm 89:17
For You are the glory of their strength,
And by Your favor our horn is exalted.
End of Isaiah 60:10 in My favor I have had compassion on you.
God's favor as unmerited grace is a Biblical concept.
I don't know why you argue against it![]()
Getting to know the Lord and His ways is like traveling to a new county with a different culture, except the culture we learn about is perfect and we will get to live in it one day. It is the most fascinating and exciting learning experience we can have.Good morning Bilk,
I agree that we are not to add or take away from the Lords Word, and that it is by the Lord's grace that we are saved. Are we then not supposed to question what the Lord's grace by which we are saved is? Or are we just to remain ignorant and not ask any questions? Throughout the Bible the Lord provides us with numerous cross referencing data in order to support what something is or isn't. The same applies to the Lord's grace. If you read through all the posts here you will see some of these supports.
