Were you expecting me to change my avatar or come here under a different name or something?

Because, that does not make any sense. Why would I do that??

"Our goal is to try to help ease people's loneliness by giving them a place to hang out, talk, joke, and share about their lives."

Absolutely friend! Plenty of spiritual threads as it is, a friendship and fun thread is lovely icing on the cake. Obviously, such things can make an appearance but not dominate the thread, it's lovely you've created this post where people can have fun, various discussions etc.

My bath has just finished running, it's an essential oils/lovely bath foam or oils fest i relish. However, seems we're not allowed truly hot water anymore where i live, been ages since cold water needs to be added, so i'd better go bathe now while it's hottest.

Hope i can look in later, blessings and hugs for now.

Blessings and hugs, have missed spending time on the forum, hoping things are finally settling down and i can spend some time here now. You're definitely one of the people i have missed and that photo is lovely. You're really pretty, i'm now trying to make sense of a couple of posts from you i read.

Think this is a great idea but i'm very security conscious, bought my first webcam just a few months ago but it's still an online virgin. I don't have a problem other members seeing me, it's the powers i think shouldn't be doing so i have issues with, however, i could allow the microphone but not the camera? I am very techy but haven't done such things as yet.
Not certain i can make this Friday but would really appreciate your thoughts Seoul as it's something i'd actually love to participate in. You rock for organising it, God's blessings and all that's good for now.
Microphone only is the default setting. You have to go out of your way and click on something to turn the camera on, and only if you want to.

For the record, most of us use microphone only, no camera. We generally only use the camera when we want to show somebody something.

Oh I thought it was like chat where everyone typed in something live.
Will it be like a big Zoom meeting, not sure about those and haven't done in ages, but if there are too many ppl that becomes a bit tedious.
Not sure if works but I maybe give it a go. However don't expect too much as it may cut out at any point.

I once whats apped my cousins in Canada, with video call, but I had to get up at 2am for that. And my grand uncle, did not recognise me and kept asking who I was...! As for mic only, it will be interesting if everyone is speaking English, but hearing all the different accents.

Will we have rules like in the Corinthians?? Like Paul saying 'Only men can speak, women are to keep silent or ask their husbands at home' thing..but if we don't have husbands, we can be as loud as we want??

What if someone wants to speak in an unknown tongue? Will we have google translate for that?

In prayer groups, which I've been to, they can't be too big because it takes ages to go round everyone in the room, and how embarrassing if two of you start praying at the same time.

And then there's 'unspoken prayer' if you don't want all your personal problems broadcast to everyone else in the church, then when something changes you can say God did a miracle? When it was really, if it was spoken other people heard it and decided to do something about it.
Yea I don't know how unspoken prayer works. I think its just, people see you in prayer position and maybe feel sorry for you, so you'll get a generic prayer like...this person needs a hug. Will someone comfort them? Amen.

And then if something isn't answered. straight away...people can say 'God works in mysterious ways' *wink*

Don't get me wrong, I believe, its just...well...don't expect too much from God if God says 'give me your money' and you pay Him at church and get nothing back. Cos I'm sure we've all done that a few times. I haven't given Him thousands of $$ though I am not that flush with cash.

It is a text based chat room, with the addition of Mic Chat and video chat. Like the old IRC servers, but without all the neat IRC /commands we used to be able to use.

Our chat room Friday night will be for hanging out and chit chat. Prayer requests are down the hall to the left, second door.

You have to live in NZ. Or Australia. I don't think they have them in the US. They have Oreos, but those aren't chocolate covered.

Actually no NZ has chit chats, Australia has tim tams.

Hey Everyone,

Some people tell me, "Sure, I'd like to stop by chat... If I remember."

So, this is just happy reminder that we're having a live chat meetup tonight! (Yes, on Friday the 13th... Who knows what hijinks will be manifested!

Here is the link to the chat rooms -- just login like you do for the forums, then look for the ForumMeetup room to enter:

https://christianchat.com/app/

The time will be at 5 PM Central Time -- just ask Google to convert this to your own local time -- I have to do this too.

Lynx will be there at the start; due to time differences, I get there about an hour later. We usually go for another hour after that, but just kind of go with the crowd. You can come and go as you please, and whether you want to talk on the mic, only type, or be a silent lurker, we welcome you to stop by!

Both marrieds and singles have shown up to every chat, so feel free to drop by no matter what you're status (bring your spouse along if you can!)

Hope to see you there! :)

Cheers Lynx, i'm a total noob to webcams, reassuring to know.

The camera, mic, and even typing are absolutely optional and not needed at all, so don't feel any pressure.

It DOES seem to be best though when we have a few good story tellers on the mic who know how to keep things running, but don't take over. This gives everyone else something to work around, including me. I'm not good on the mic that way.

Some people prefer the mic, some just type, some just lurk... Some are quiet because they just put the chat on for background noise.

And every chat is different, just like you never know how any given conversation will go.

So please, don't feel any pressure if you just want to stop in and check it out. Just be yourself and we will try our best to entertain! :)

Throughout the week, people might see me creating chat rooms, but it's mostly for practice. Apparently the room creator has "mod" powers and can ban people if needed, etc., but we haven't quite figured that out yet.

I keep trying to get Lynx to come into one of the chat rooms I've made -- so that I can practice banning him.:LOL::geek:

Just to sit right back
And you'll hear a tale
A tale of a chat room crowd
With storytellers
Three or four
And the audience was wowed
And the audience was wowed

Cheers Seoul, loadsa good, very reassuring info there and don't worry, i'm an entp, we love fun too! I can post my own threads for pet peeves and heavy discussion.

Apart from that, it could become a great platform for attracting new believers, when they see loving and celebrating the LORD involves fun and laughter along with prayer and repentance.

5pm is about 11.30pm my time, hopefully i can look in for a while and go for getting a decent idea of what i need to do.
