This isn't to poke at the Sabbath. I don't care if a person has the Sabbath on a Sunday, Saturday, or Monday. Or even decides to mix it up each week. I posted this because my family is all doing some kind of work as I type this, while I was watching football. I don't understand how people use their days off just to do more work. I can understand that stuff needs to be done and sometimes our day off is the only time to do it, but this is every single time they have a day off. I don't understand it. I thought the Bible refers to actually resting when it talks of day of rest, not go and do more work.

Am I wrong? Are there folks on here that feel they always need to do stuff, and don't know how to take a day of rest? Also can't understand how people always talk about work when not working. Or folks that have work related dinners at their own homes. Isn't the whole point to separate the two? Just want everyone's thoughts about the day of rest, and what does it actually mean to you. Do you still do work on it?

28 views but not 1 reply? Surely someone has an opinion about working while having a day off.

It doesn't mean anything to me. People can do what they want. Maybe it doesn't feel like work to them. Who defines that? Personally, I don't why it matters. To each their own.

Never really thought of it. As for me, being a mother of two, a day off isn't really a day off:p
Also, Sunday is my only chance to prepare for the next few days...clothes, foods, getting ready for work, ironing my husbands shirts and doing the laundry. And fix my daughters hair:)

Laundry isn't a big deal, though. Usually that's the end of the week's clothes. I kinda don't understand the "Okay, I'm going to do this. And this. And this. Did I check this off? Nope, better do this" mindset. Like they've been going at it nonstop today. It just kinda baffles me, really, how some people don't know how to rest.

[h=1]Colossians 2:16Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)[/h]16 Therefore, don’t let anyone judge you in regard to food and drink or in the matter of a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day.

The sabbath was a command made into law in the old testament. Which was the law given to his people the Israelites. His people could not keep the law so Jesus who kept the law perfectly was sinless in order to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins. Creating an open communication with God and for God to live in us. The sabbath day no longer applies to specifically honoring God on the 7th day. He now lives within us making every day a day to worship God and find rest throughout every day to spend time with God. Too many people only worship on Sunday or Saturday and breeze on through the week only thinking of God when it is convenient for their selfish reasons. The fast pace world we live in now this truly makes sense to find rest every day to pray and read his word. But also just has Jesus healed and did good deeds on the sabbath. This does not exclude us during our private time with God should we find our self with the opportunity to help someone. If you truly read the laws behind the Sabbath you could easily see why no one could keep it. So the day of rest has become really a proverb or smart saying that has truth. Now after the resurrection, every day is the day of the Lord so keep every day Holy.

Having a day of physical rest is a good thing.. The Sabbath was made for man.. man where not made for the Sabbath.. So having one day a week of rest and recuperation makes us better workers when we work and gives our mind a rest also.. So physical and mental performance improves if people have a day of rest...
