No. Even thou I do think it is too close, and there are risks of genetic problems, the Bible does not forbid marriage between cousins. It is the closest family relationship that Scripture permits within the marriage laws given.

Numbers 36:11:
“Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, married their uncles’ sons.”

These women married their cousins in order to keep their inheritance within their tribe and family line. The text presents this as lawful and appropriate, not as a violation of God’s commands.

Hmm... I looked it up and you are right. Bible forbids marrying your father/mother, aunts/uncles, but doesn't say a word about first cousins.

On the other hand, the bible also doesn't say anything about "Thou shalt not hit thy hand with a hammer."

"If you go to a family reunion to meet women... Ya might be a redneck. If your family tree does not branch... Ya might be a redneck."

read chapters 18 & 20 in Leviticus. in the new testament, read 1st Corinthians 5:1. relationships within family is incest. even the pagans thought it to be wrong. paul says that it wasn't named among the gentiles.
God has put His laws in our minds & wrote them in our hearts what is right & wrong, ( Hebrews 8:10 ). there are 3 families in upstate new york that have lusted with family for at least a century. they even have their own town name & cemetery. i was there. there are a huge amount of headstones with the ages of infant to adult. most of them infants & kids. also, common sense tells us not to be with relatives. if i knew well, i would tell you some stories.

Regarding 1 Corinthians 5 - Incest is wrong, a son should never get with his father's wife. Note it didn't say mother, I would presume this was the sons step-mother, so technically they are not blood related.

I think in blended families, this can be a major problem. This would be why I could never go with an older divorced man/husband or widow that had sons, because then I'd have step-sons, who may see me as MILF, it is just too risky.

Its not even that they may be attracted to me, or I think I'm desirable, it's just, it shouldn't ever happen. I think it violates the safety and security of family.

People that do this end up suicidal, and if they have children of this union, risk mental illness, or some other tragedy. It's adultery as well as fornication.

I have read those chapters. I do not wish to debate further, but the Bible does not classify cousin marriage as incest. It forbids marriage with parents, siblings, and uncles or aunts, but cousins are never mentioned. Earlier I even cited an example from the Bible where cousins married AFTER those laws forbidding incest were established.

That said, I agree that common sense advises against marriages between close relatives.

Some cousins can be closer than others, some you only ever see at funerals, weddings or other family get togethers. If you see your cousin all the time or live with them, maybe the same neighbourhood, it could be too close. Your aunt and uncle might be like your parents especially if you lost your own parents or they abandoned you.

In Maori culture if your parents couldn't look after you, you could be fostered to your relatives, or grandparents would raise you. Its called being whangaied (sp?) I had a lot of these children at school. Their parents might be away, in prison, or just incapable, addicted, too poor, whatever. Then the family (iwi) would take over because they live tribally. But you aren't supposed to have sexual relationships with your carers. They treat you like their own children/family not partners.
Though it can happen, it's abusive if it does.

In the movie/book Once were Warriors, some kind of incest did happen with the daughter. Don't think it was the dad..I will have to check that. She did commit suicide after, it was so taboo.

Cousins are not incest because they don't have that kind of relationship...they are not carers and they could be around the same age. They may just be brothers from another mother though. Hold on thats not right, that's step-brothers. I wouldn't go with my step-brother if I had any. It would just be too ew, like brother and sister. If I lived in the same household it would be just wrong.

Ok Grace Heke in Once were Warriors was raped by her Uncle Billy.
Yea rape is wrong in any kind of context, but worse if it's from your own family.

The Bible does say "Thou shalt not take the Lord's name in vain' . Look - although Jesus was a carpenter, don't blame Him for nailing your own hand.

I have been to a family reunion and there were people there I'd never met before. We women just do not count in chinese family trees. Neither do they in Jewish ones, only if they are prostitutes or concubines.
