hi again!fixing
I'm sure you know that the book of ecclesiasticus is not in most Protestant Bibles.
it is in Catholic Bibles, but then they would also say that it's not right for an individual to read a verse and use it to criticize a church teaching.
looking at the whole passage,
My son, shed tears for one who is dead*
with wailing and bitter lament;
As is only proper, prepare the body,
and do not absent yourself from the burial.
17Weeping bitterly, mourning fully,
pay your tribute of sorrow, as deserved:
A day or two, to prevent gossip;
then compose yourself after your grief.
18For grief can bring on death,
and heartache can sap one’s strength.d
19When a person is carried away, sorrow is over;
and the life of the poor one is grievous to the heart.
20Do not turn your thoughts to him again;
cease to recall him; think rather of the end.e
21Do not recall him, for there is no hope of his return;
you do him no good, and you harm yourself.f
22Remember that his fate will also be yours;
for him it was yesterday, for you today.g
23With the dead at rest, let memory cease;
be consoled, once the spirit has gone.

it looks to me like it is about how to behave at funerals,
and advice to avoid excessive grief.
the 66 book Bible also talks about dead people being asleep or resting, I think.Prove catholic is lie, her own bible say the dead is reast, why their teach to,pray to people on vacation?
the 66 book Bible also talks about dead people being asleep or resting, I think.
but then, it also talks things other than sleep occurring after death.
Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live on in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work; yet I don't know what I will choose. 23 But I am in a dilemma between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.
An error. I goofed up while trying to respond.hi again!

Faith coming by hearing and hearing by the word of God.at this point, we can discuss water baptism if you wish.
however, whatever conclusions you and I reach will not really apply to the thread, since Catholics don't see the Bible as something for individuals to read and make up their own minds about.
We know the Apostle Paul was baptized in Jesus' name. (Acts 22:16) It was Jesus Himself that actually sent Paul to Damascus stating that there Paul would be told what was expected of him. (Acts 22:10)if you do want to discuss water baptism and especially how it was practiced in the New testament,
a first question would be:
many of Jesus' disciples had been baptized by John.
at some point, did they get baptized again?
well, they also say other things as well about the Dead.Catholic bible say the dead is rest, combine catholic and Protestant bibles say the dead sleep,
do you believe that people who have a different understanding of the Bible from yourself are lying?why catholic lie
well, we may wish to remember but the question is whether or not asking Christians in heaven to pray with you is against the Bible.and teach the dead able to hear billion people that still on earth, like pagan that pray to their dead ancestor.
do you agree, then, that Paul is saying that when he dies, he will be happy in heaven? not asleep?Paul indicate the dead not bear fruit
Let quote what Paul say
:".....but if I live on the flesh this will bring fruit from my work."
He weigh what the best, living on flesh to bring fruit, or die, not bear fruit but happy living in heaven
Continued:if you do want to discuss water baptism and especially how it was practiced in the New testament,

After accepting the message of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection, repentance, being water baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. As shown in scripture all of these things are required for one to be born again.at what time do you believe you became a member of the body of Christ?
I don't know at what exact age I was filled with the Holy Spirit. I began attending church with a neighborhood family I would guess I was around 10 years old. After the family moved away I only went to church on occasion.at what time do you believe you were baptized in the holy Spirit?
Amen to that!Faith coming by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
interesting story about Paul, how does it apply to those disciples of Jesus who had been baptized by John?We know the Apostle Paul was baptized in Jesus' name. (Acts 22:16) It was Jesus Himself that actually sent Paul to Damascus stating that there Paul would be told what was expected of him. (Acts 22:10)
Notice what Ananias said to Paul, "The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard." Acts 22:14-15
Ananias concluded his statement by saying what are you waiting for? Get baptized. This points to the fact of what is necessary first, and what a person can expect will occur after they have obeyed the command to be baptized in the name of Jesus. No mention of using a phrase.
when do you believe the apostles who had been baptized by John were baptized in the name of Jesus?Continued:
Of the apostles, only the events surrounding the Apostle Paul's baptism is recorded. However, in the absence of direct evidence, circumstantial evidence points to the truth:
1. Jesus told the apostles to go and teach others to observe ALL things that He had commanded them. (Matt 28:18-20) His statement indicates that what the apostles would command of others applied to them personally as well.
looking at the passage2. Peter was the first to preach the gospel which included the message of Jesus death, burial and resurrection, and the associated instructions that EVERYONE was required to obey. (Acts 2:38) This indicated that the apostles were not exempt, they too would have to be "buried with Jesus" by submitting to water baptism in the name of the Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins.
I'm sure you know that the longer ending of Mark is not considered scripture by many people.3. Jesus said to preach the gospel and when it was first preached it included instructions that required EVERYONE's obedience as witnessed by #1 and 2. Jesus said he who believes and is baptized shall be saved. (Mark 15:16) Those who believe the entire message will get water baptized and be saved. Those who do not believe the message will not obey and therefore will be damned. We know the apostles were not damned as seen from other scriptures.
yes, God is a righteous judge, and I think a righteous judge would take everything into account!@Dan_473 Some of your posts seem to indicate one's interpretation of the bible will be a factor in judgment. Is that what you believe?
I thought you talked about speaking in tongues prior to being baptized in the name of Jesus.After accepting the message of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection, repentance, being water baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. As shown in scripture all of these things are required for one to be born again.
thanks for the answer!I don't know at what exact age I was filled with the Holy Spirit. I began attending church with a neighborhood family I would guess I was around 10 years old. After the family moved away I only went to church on occasion.
I do recall that when I began regularly attending church again, as an adult, that I was shocked when in praise during worship service tongues began to flow out from deep within my soul.
yes,Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed?
well, they also say other things as well about the Dead.
do you believe that people who have a different understanding of the Bible from yourself are lying?
32 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?' God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."
I think when the Bible talks about the dead sleeping, it's talking about how their body looks.You mean Bible inconsistence? Sleep but able to hear?
how do you decide which different understandings are lies and which ones are not?No, but teaching to pray to the dead, sale indulgence is.
Quote
The Vatican said on Wednesday that Pope Benedict is offering the indulgences to pilgrims from this weekend.
that's correct!It doesn't say or teach to pray for Mary soul
I think when the Bible talks about the dead sleeping, it's talking about how their body looks.
people not alive on this Earth can hear the gospel
if you assert that asking people in heaven to pray with you is
against the Bible,
Isn't the below passage describing the Saints of the OT as a great cloud of witnesses that encompass us?That what you think, but not what Bible say, Bible not say the dead look like sleep but it is not, so you have to ad the word the body look like sleep
.
That talking about unsave soul, they are not sleep, they are in hades
1. Catholic not only ask people that sleep to pray with them, catholic pray to
Read: Pope Francis’s prayer to Mary during coronavirus pandemic
O Mary,
you always shine on our path
as a sign of salvation and of hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick,
who at the cross took part in Jesus' pain, keeping your faith firm.
You, Salvation of the Roman People,
know what we need,
and we are sure you will provide
so that, as in Cana of Galilee,
we may return to joy and to feasting
after this time of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform to the will of the Father
and to do as we are told by Jesus,
who has taken upon himself our sufferings
and carried our sorrows
to lead us, through the cross,
to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.
Pope entrust to Mary
The title is pray to Mary, not ask Mary pray together with catholic.
You ask me to provide scripture not to pray to the dead?, you already provide the scripture that the dead in Christ are sleep. How billion people pray to the sleep mary, it will,be 100 people every minute, 24/7 when she sleep
Isn't the below passage describing the Saints of the OT as a great cloud of witnesses that encompass us?
Hebrews 12
12 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
